Best place to get tires mounted???
Hi all...
I'm thinking about getting a set of Apex ARC-8's for track day use. Any advice on the best tire shops in Seattle? I've been to Tru Line on Boren Ave and had a pretty good experience. Wanted to see what tire places you guys go to. |

Without a doubt, Tight n Tidy racing in Renton. It's a local owned shop. They do fantastic, honest work at unbeatable prices. I've only been once so far but I will not take my car anywhere else.
Do a quick Google search for Tight n Tidy and you'll find nothing but stellar reviews. |

Group 2 Inc in Interbay is a good option.

I looked up the Tight n Tidy place on Google Maps and it looks like a house. For those that have been there, is the place the guy's house?
Not that I mind, but I just wanted to make sure |

I agree. Group 2 is a really good option too.
This was their handy work

I'm no M3 expert - mine hasn't even arrived yet - but can't you just get tired mounted at your local Discount Tire or Les Schwab? Is there something unique about these tires that requires a fancy specialty shop?

I'm not ballsy enough to let just about any one near those rims. It's really expensive, plus it's a finish that cannot be replicated in the US, so whoever is doing the mounting has to be super careful not to cause any scrapes / chips on the rims. It's really not something that I'm comfortable with letting someone from a regular tire place handle. Also, when I was at Group 2 to have wheel and tires mounted and balanced, they ran through the balancing multiple times for one of the 4 rims to minimize the amount of balancing weights that they have to use.

Karl dismounted my wheels to find that they were all tightened about 80 ft/lb of torque when they were only supposed to be around 30 ft/lb each. I watched while he rebalanced the wheels only to find that all of the wheels were grossly misbalanced. They were all so bad that I'm guessing Discount purposely misbalanced them. In any event, Karl got me back up and running in less than an hour and the vibrations were gone. All of the work, including mount/dismount, was well under $100.00. I can't recommend Tight n Tidy enough! You can tell they are really passionate about cars and racing. They are awesome people. Just my $.02. |

Thanks for the feedback dvn. That confirms some of thoughts about big block tires places.

Bumping the thread. Anyone know of a good, honest place up in the north end?

Is this sub-forum really that dead? Where do you north-enders get your tires changed? I'll even go as far south as Kirkland or Lynnwood :-)
