Haha, love our view of what is proper parking for our dear cars! Nope car cover, dry and warm garage (+ scratches with cover, "don't touch the paint"..).
Tha parking is great actually. Left side a bike that hasn't moved for 10y, right side another car freak with his Merc so garanteed to door dents...

Your car looks stunning btw!

Your M3 is just as nice. Did you ceramic coat your wheels?

Thanks. Not really, I smear on a layer Turtle ceramic spray once a year. Makes it easy to keep the barrels clean.

In anticipation of summer driving, had an appointment scheduled for this morning to get brand new PS4S installed. They felt great on the drive home.

It’s snowing now.

Pulled the old girl out of storage 3 weeks ago. Did the standard yearlies:
  • Brake fluid and coolant flush
    Oil change
    New street pads
Tire rebalance, alignment, and corner balance
This year I proactively did actuators. Car just ticked 70k so it was inevitable. Wrapped it up yesterday and knocked out a 6 hour detail today. Snapped a pic during our standard ice cream run with the kiddos. Crazy to think this car is almost 17 years old.

Yeah our cars are getting old, pure joy to see how they are kept in shape. Yours look damm good.

Your yearly coolant change makes me feel bad. The one fluid I "never"change, once during my 10y ownership. You settle with draining the radiator or draining complete engine?

Mostly full flush. It's certainly not necessary but it's just part of my routine and I'm anal . Running the engine with the radiator open for a couple minutes pulls most of the coolant out and brings the oil up to a more viscous temp for drainage.

Since the car never sees freezing temps I run an 80/20 water to coolant ratio with 24 ounces of water wetter. Started with this mix about 8 years ago. Car has never run cooler.

Ah, so you don't bother to open the engine drain plug. No worries ovet running the water pump dry?

And how much do you get out/in doing it this way?

Getting ready for the track season and I have decided to put some re$ources into safety. I purchased a fire extinguisher bracket From aliexpress and with a modification on the latch, it works fine for the e90. The latch is supposed to have a tall red metal handle but it interferes with seat position. This option may actually be more effective. I will have my wife use her heavy duty sewing machine and will turn this strap into a loop.

I’ve also invested in some fire resistant clothing: pants, socks, shirt, baclava, gloves and shoes. I can’t emotionally go full race suit at my skill level; I already walk around feeling like George Costanza.

Probably around 8 quarts. I've never measured to be honest.

Call me pessimistic but I don't believe in "forever fluids". Trans and diffs get flushed every 3 or so years.

I picked up my car from a buddy's garage, topped it off with a qt of oil, ran errands, and did some spirited driving. Hoping to wash it this week and finish putting on a few remaining modifications.
