They didn't change my front rotors despite the fact that I've got 32k miles on them. Advantage just changed the rears a month or two back. Now BMW of Austin has a strike in my book

That was quick, why wanting to move back so soon? Other than the fact that Texas is the greatest state in the union of course.

I was just wondering: Is the the V1 really that much better of a radar, compared to the 8500i?

If I were to sell my 8500i and then go for a new V1, would I regret it later?

Just curious...

The 9500xi has essentially the same performance as mine, no?

Except that it eliminates a lot of the false alerts by memorizing all those sensitive areas that one travels in.

Am I correct on this, Blake?

i think the 9500ix is a more sensitive radar than 8500i.
redline has a little more range on the v1.

9500 is v1's equal (9500 is actually somewhat better) as far as sensitivity. 8500 doesn't have the range that the 9500 does. v1 is just a noisy machine with arrows. the arrows really are the only benefit of the v1 anymore. gps detectors are taking over for good reason...they're quiet. if you're looking to trade up, check out escort's trade-in program.

v1 has a lot of fanboi's (re: dev), but the 9500ix is really a better detector all-around.

false pops = bad and annoying. you'll be slowing down a lot more for nothing

The next day was also a weekday. Using the same vehicle and personnel and starting at the same time, we made a fourth circuit, this with the Valentine One, and recorded its false alarms. The number and frequency of the sources were identical to those encountered the previous day—nearly all of them radar-controlled automatic door openers—with the exception of one additional alert, triggered by a radar detector in a passing car while en route into town on the freeway.

Next up was the Passport 9500i, its settings unchanged. After completing an identical circuit, we had a direct comparison of their behavior in town. The scores were Valentine One: 51 total falses and 81 bogeys, Escort 9500i: 0 falses, 0 bogeys.
decision is all yours, but the writing is on the wall.

Thanks for all the help Blake, Dev, and Soorena.

I forgot about Escort's trade-in program. I'll have to look into that when I get a bit more serious.

So far, the 8500i isn't too bad. I may end up sticking with it a bit longer.

Thanks again, fellas!

Garage List
2008 BMW 335i  [0.00]
Looks like I'll be joining the ///M ranks in late April. I was all set on ordering another 335i (I have a build slot on hold), but I found someone looking to get out of his E92 M3 lease, so I assumed it.

So I'll be saying goodbye to my Montego Blue E92 335i, and saying hello to my Interlagos Blue E92 M3.
