He's not going to give Sergio any wins.
But Sergio is capable of beating Max once in a while.

Doesn't look like any of the remaining tracks suit Ferrari very well

Hoping Ferrari can sort out tire wear for '23

On pure pace? Not even close.

No one on the grid can and I say that with respect because I love Sergio and really want him to win Mexico.

That pic that ends going up the hill is the front straight... not the long(er) back one... I'll forgive you just this once

Top speed is definitely a benefit at COTA - but you will be slower around the track if you prioritize. More middle of the road then you might expect even with those long straights. Still would expect RBR to have top pace. A ways out obviously but the forecast is looking good. Always a fun time - can't wait to head out back out there.

Those 'haters' are supposed to (ac)know(ledge) that people exist who are truly outstanding at what they do. Give a motivated top dog with exceptional skills and team spirit the proper machinery, and chances of success for the whole team are improved.

Perez is a top driver and currently #2 in the WDC standings. But, alike Senna, Verstappen is a league of his own, performing on another level. And the kid is only 25.

In the future, car enthusiasts may look back on most of this decade as 'The Verstappen Era'. For sure - apart from Charles Leclerc, George Russell (and maybe also Oscar Piastri) - potential F1 giants who are currently still teenagers racing karts, will enter F1 this decade, giving Verstappen a run for his money and, with competitive machinery, possibly beat him in winning WDC titles. But for the time being, Verstappen is the dominant force.

2023 season: if Ferrari gets its act together, Charles Leclerc may have a better shot at the WDC title. IMHO of all current F1 drivers, he's the only true main rival capable of stopping Verstappen in his WDC tracks next year. If Verstappen keeps on piling race wins, more and more people will root for Leclerc - he also deserves a WDC. Age difference between Verstappen and Leclerc: only 16 days.

I think Ver has matured to a point where Lec has not. I also don't think Lec has the teammate (though Sai is quite good), nor does the team as a whole have the level of competency in strategy or race intelligence that RB has. Considering Max was thrown into F1 without the ability to hone his skills in F2/3 like Lec, Rus, Nor did he matured at a much more rapid pace than any of them and will be hard to beat for a long, long time...and it truly only seems like he really just getting going.
I do think Lec is the only one who really might have a chance. As I predicted, Rus' grace period is over and he is not only driving recklessly (drove right into Sch in Singapore) but also was overperforming where his skill level is - it's not at the level of Max, and not even at the level of Lec/Per/Sai IMO.

The haters aside I love those bottom two pics of Chas and Max both being so happy relaxing on the podium with the champers, Chas is walking on the moon with that win.

I think the problem many seem to have at the moment is a lack of mutual respect. Some fans love and adore max, other the same for Lewis, a few Lando etc. The drivers all respect each other on the whole.

But not on these forums, the fans or at least some of them are the issue. I think Max is an amazing talent, I don’t like him but he has astounding skill. Lewis, Michael, Senna etc. they are all in that same league. Anyone that says they aren’t either doesn’t understand the sport or is just being a hater Stirling things up.

That’s fine but when people don’t congratulate or say well done it’s because the hate and vitriol has sent most people out of this forum and into other places. That’s a real shame, I come here to talk F1 with adults plain and simple.

I live it hope.

i don't equate wins with pace. a win is a win which is etched in the record books and nobody remembers the losers' circumstances, justified or not. poor Mercedes.

if Sergio wins it's a Sergio win.
if Max wins it's Max win.
Sergio has won on more than one occasion iirc.
poor Ferrari.

Ohhhh OC ...I know that , and you are right . I just posted that pic because I really love that hill (uphill) .
I really like some elevation levels in a track like at COTA , and it makes me think about Eau Rouge . That's why ...

I'll forgive you too mate !

Is Merc's lack of straight line speed a result of engine or draggy aero?

I would say more crappy aero than engine. It was painful to see HAM try to pass OCO just to see the Alpine accelerate ahead. HAM made good attempts at passing Ocon but the W13 just couldn't pull ahead when side-by-side.

32 wins now for Max and with four races still to go the count is set to rise on the high speed Texan track where it's unlikely to rain.

And ...

The new 2022 fuel came into play !

For 2022, F1 moved to the new 'E10' fuel .This referring to the ethanol content of the fuel. Last year, the ethanol content was 5.75 %.
This year, they must run with 10 % ethanol according to the FIA fuel regulations !
This means less of HP ..

But Ferrari managed somehow to increase the HP with their Ferrari 2022 'Superfast PU .
