Hardwire Locations for an Escort 9500xi
I am going to hardwire my new Escort 9500xi, but I was wondering where to position it for both solid performance and minimizing how obvious it is that I have one.
I am going to have someone else actually do the hardwire install, but I would welcome insight as to where to best physically locate it to achieve the above goals. Thanks in advance for your help! |

Generally, a detector performs better the higher it is. The only exception to this is laser. Higher mounting will give you an earlier warning, but will miss the laser beam when you are closer and being targeted at your license plate and headlights. I'd rather have the greater luck in picking up laser from further away.
I have my V1 as high as it will go on the windshield just to the right of the RVM. It's not so high that the view is blocked in the back by anything, nor from the front with the tint at the top of the windshield. I also have the V1 hardwired in -- I tapped a fuse location and ran the wire up the A pillar and along the top of the headliner over to the V1. Cheers.

I've got my Escort 9500i in the same place, just to the right of the rear view mirror. It performs great, and I get warnings from miles away most of the time. I chose to go into the headliner and hardwire into the sunroof. Which plug it is depends on which car you have, but it will be one of the two on the passenger side of the panel. Trial and error is how I figured it out. Just make sure you read up on how to reset your sunroof, in the event you pooch it like I did. There's ample forums on how to do this.
Good luck!

Wiring it into the headliner by the sunroof switch (if you have the sunroof option) is great if you aren't going to have any remote switches or displays. In my case, I'm installing the remote switch, power and display for the V1 so it makes sense to use the fuse box.
Cheers.
