CHARLOTTE, NC: Rod bearing replacement shop recommendations?

Anyone in the Charlotte metro area have their rod bearings replaced?

Looking for a reputable shop that does good work and priced reasonably.

Thanks!

I've heard good things about Eurowise in Charlotte. Also, not Charlotte, but in Raleigh, Bimmer Performance Center.

I've used Dynamic Auto Tune before for other work and liked it. Worth a call/visit.

I would get quotes from Eurowise, GMP Performance, Euroenvy Autowerks, and Dynamic Auto Tune. I've also heard good things about Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh.

Just had mine done at Dynamic Auto Tune about 2 weeks ago. Highly recommend. Be advised that BE bearings are out of stock until July. I did VAC.

I have about 54k miles on my 11. Did the quote include motor mounts and oil change?

Might have been me on Johnston. I’ve been on the lookout for your F80M.

No personal affiliation nor professional experience with the guys, but I was given a card and had a good talk with the owner, Marcus Schall, of Schall Motorsport in Spartanburg a couple months back. Looks like they deal a lot in classic Bimmers, but he has done many S65/85 bearing replacements.

Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh is where I'm having mine done in a few weeks. They probably do at least 1 of these a week.

New e92 M3 owner here from Charlotte area. At how many miles are you guys doing your bearings typically? What about the throttle actuators? Thanks.

As I mentioned above, BPC in Raleigh did my RBs recently at 76k miles. My car is an 08, driven fairly easily (no hard track days or drag racing) and they were READY to be done, according to BPC and my old bearings.

I've not done my TA's yet but it's a fairly easy DIY and when they go, it won't lead to catastrophic engine failure so I'm content to replace them when they break.

It seems to be all over the place when people do their bearings. Some swear by following their blackstone reports. I've read that blackstone reports are unreliable. What bearings did you all use? I've read VAC Calico coated bearings are best. Also, proper assembly using the right amount of torque is important.

https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1073979

I bought my M3 with 36k miles. I'll probably hold off on getting the bearings replaced until the warranty is about to run out.
