Check your throttle pedal on holding the revs longer. Perhaps it's hanging up a bit upon release. Other thing would be a programming glitch.
You should have a spare throttle pedal as they go bad and you're stranded. Could swap in the spare and see if there's a change.

If the rev hang isn’t a physical issue, it could be something with the tune. Back when the Civic Si first cane out with drive by wire, it had rev hang from the factory and it was finally sorted out when Hondata came out with a tuning solution and smoothed it out.

Just getting caught up on your thread. I'm glad the ground issue resolved the vacuum pump issue as the initial test showed it would. Sounded also like your power steering pump was failing but we didn't have much time to look into that after engine disassembly and chasing the wiring issue and running a makeshift (at best) test ground.
I have some thoughts on the RPMs hanging, but that may be hard to test give the condition of the car and the inability to just go test it on the street haha. I'm looking forward to you getting the original engine back together and into a car of some sort just to hear it running. |

The machine shop came back and said the heads looked good. They took off 5/1000" to make it perfect. I guess we're waiting for a few more specialty bolts from Germany, and then you can start doing your magic and put that baby back together!

For those that don't know, I bought a Traeger pellet smoker a few weeks ago and have begun the journey of learning to smoke meat. Did my first brisket a couple weeks ago. Was a crazy adventure with some pitfalls, but it still came out darn good. I'm enjoying it! This coming weekend, I'm doing my second brisket. Can't wait! (I have to wait to do a brisket until I can get a few meat eaters over. My daughters are pescatarian. And my wife does not eat large quantities of food.)

Let's file this one under.....you changed so much on the car, you may as well change one last major thing before you really dig into the setup.
Had an opportunity to get a Zebulon wing this week, so I went for it. Originally, I was going to wait awhile, but as the car is coming back online, and we're digging into the setup, it seemed silly to setup the whole car around the APR and then switch to the Zebulon in a few months, so....I went for it. Also, with the car here in CO, it's simply easier to deal with these wholesale changes to the car now, versus shipping the stuff to CA and then flying out there to deal with installs. So, I'm just trying to take advantage of the proximity of the car while it's here. Anyway, here it is----71 inches of Zebulon wing with some fancy shmancy 3D end plates! Hopefully, it will be on the car when I go to the track on Friday!

I am trying hard to get the rev issue fixed so I can be there with you guys on Monday. Would be fun to compare times on the same day, same tires. I'll know more on Friday hopefully. If the car is still not correct on Friday, I will hesitate to go on Monday....makes no sense to burn up new DH and A7 if the car is not in tip-top shape......would be a bummer if we can't get it sorted in time.

Only 10% of motorsport is actually driving. The other 90% is rationalizing the spending!! "But, honey......."

Went to High Plains Raceway on Friday to test the car. This week, the engine bay was ripped apart to verify all the connections on the supercharger. They checked out. They swapped the throttle actuators to the original E90 ones. Reset a bunch of adaptations. Basically chasing anything we could think of on the rev issue. I believe the car is driving better now. I'm calling the issue solved although it still feels a bit different than the previous motor. I did the install of the new wing at the shop on Thursday. I knew they were slammed with work, so I ran up there and installed the wing with some help from DRLane. I'm very happy with it. The wing just looks outrageous to me hahaha Of course, in typical dogbone style, I showed up with the crappiest tires imaginable......This happened on my first session. So, I was relegated to running some other garbage tires all day. It was a laughably bad tire setup. You may ask yourself, how stupid is dogbone that he keeps going to track days with bad tires? And you're right, I am stupid. But in this case, it was purposeful. When I attend HPR-hosted open lapping days, the mix of cars/speeds on track at the same time can be astounding to say the least. Yesterday, they didn't do the Fast and Slow groups because there wasn't a ton of cars. It was open track. There was a car out there probably turning 3+ minute laps while other cars are doing 1:55s. (I was lapping a Mustang every two laps.....) The traffic is constant and the speed differentials are not ideal. When I have good tires with me, my willpower is low. I want to run them. But it would be a total waste to run them while sitting in traffic. So, I have learned to leave my good tires at home on open lapping days......which is a shame because the weather was cool and the wind was mellow. (The big challenge at HPR is the wind.) And it's also worth noting that the guy that lets cars on track doesn't even look at the track to see what the situation on track is. He just looks at your wristband and waves you on out there. hehe it really is the Wild West. On these open lapping days, if you're willing to stay to the end of the day, the track clears out quite a bit. But usually it's pretty warm by then.....Anywaaaaay......the point is, I saved my good tires for a semi-exclusive day and just ran whatever garbage I had because it was simply a day to test the engine and try to get a sense of the new wing. Also, with the new aero and still quite new suspension, I am still exploring the feel of the car. Running low grip tires gives me a chance to develop my Spidey senses for feeling what the car does as it starts to lose grip. When you go back to high grip tires, you keep pushing to that point and try to get the max from them without taking undue risk. My plan is to go to a semi-exclusive day on Monday at HPR with fsmtnbiker (who is testing his E92). I'd bring the new DH and A7. But, the problem is the forecast is calling for a windy day, and it will be fairly warm. As much as I want to run on Monday, I want good conditions to run all this new rubber. I'm thinking I will fully prep for Monday and go. But if the conditions are wrong, then I will try to make myself wait for another day. Anyway, just being able to consider going on Monday is a huge victory. It's been a lot of work getting back to a running car, but it was fun to be driving yesterday.
