E92 M3 Track Build
Hi BMW Community,
My name is TJ and for the past 12 months I have been building my E92 M3 to be a track toy with plates. I am just sharing what I have done YTD and hoping to get feedback and advice from all the seasoned e9X track enthusiasts. I purchased a bone stock 2012 DCT E92 M3 with 85k miles December 6th of last year with no receipts haha. I have gone to a couple shops for a wide range of maintenance and upgrades. The shops I have gone to are preformance eurowerks in Chicago area as well as Seems Legit Garage in Shelby. I have only done 8 track days this season to shake the car down and see the progression but hoping to double that next season Maintenance & Cosmetic - Rod Bearings with new motor mounts ( BE w ARP) - TA's ( EAE rebuilt) - Aluminum Vanos covers - Valve Cover Gaskets -DCT Full service -Fuel Breather Valve -Brake Vacuum Pressure Sensor. Failed on track -Lux Amber Angel Eye -Paint Correction -Carplay -Rear seat delete kit Performance Upgrades -DO88 full kit -Dyno Tune and Trans Tune @PE by Alex -Eventuri Plenum and Intake -AP 9660 and AP 9449 -EAE PS Upgrade and undertray -GT4 Aero from MKtrackparts -BW x pipe resonated w corsa muffler -Fall Line Half Cage w Sparco Evo L and Lifeline -KMP Gen 1 -MCS 2 Way Remote w GC Plates - Apex Vs-5rs ( 18x10 et25 square)-285 pzero scrubs - Apex Vs-5rs ( 18x9.5 and 18x10.5)- re71rs Things I am seeking Advice & feedback on from anyone who is willing to help. 1.What are the best bushings for this chassis ? Planning to redo with solid subframe and poly everything else? 2. Is SPL full kinematics the best solution for kinematics or BW/ turner? Heard they are little tricky to install/ maintain 3. Does the diff make a crazy difference? Heard great things about 3.62 Diffsonline if keeping NA but lot of cheddar 4. Is ESS G1 the best SC to get for this chassis for 15 minute DE sessions? If so, what is the ideal diff ratio to pair with or could keep stock? 5. Weight reduction? - Is anti gravity a no brainer? Any easy big ticket items/ suggestions as current at 3550#s w half tank and no driver. 6. Anything else? Is this too much too soon? I think the car is in a great spot after all new bushings to just be a NA track rat w full interior ... Made an insta for the car @bosstjm3 if want to follow along on this journey Thanks in advance - TJ |

just an FYI for weight reduction, there aren’t many “big ticket” items to drop weight easily other than the front seats and battery. It’s more of an “ounces turn into pounds” situation with the e92 where you can’t get real noticeable weight loss unless you take out a bunch of small things or replace everything with lighter parts that eventually add up.
The question becomes “Where do you draw the line and is it really worth it?” I removed every bit of the basic interior panels/rear speakers/etc. from the B pillar back and it all weighed 127 pounds and now looks like this:

http://www.s65dynos.com Click on the “Find all STOCK cars” to get to stock dyno plots. As for your original questions: 1.What are the best bushings for this chassis ? Planning to redo with solid subframe and poly everything else? Any solid Al subframe mounts will work. I’d recommend BimmerWorld solid Al subframe bushings 2. Is SPL full kinematics the best solution for kinematics or BW/ turner? Heard they are little tricky to install/ maintain Yes but Ground Control has a good set too. I have the BimmerWorld front and rear arms. Widens track by 10 mm. I’m unsure whether BW still offers their front arms. 3. Does the diff make a crazy difference? Heard great things about 3.62 Diffsonline if keeping NA but lot of cheddar Adding a DCT 3.62 FD LSD + Epic DCT software was the BEST mod I’ve done to my car! It is absolutely worth the money and a clutch-type diff is far superior to the oem LSD. 4. Is ESS G1 the best SC to get for this chassis for 15 minute DE sessions? If so, what is the ideal diff ratio to pair with or could keep stock? I can’t answer the SC question for you; however, I’d recommend staying stock to maximize your driving skills and use 100% of the stock power before adding a SC. As for the diff, if you add a supercharger, I’d probably go with a 3.45 FD over a 3.62 FD. At a minimum I’d get a clutch-type LSD with the stock 3.15 FD. 5. Weight reduction? - Is anti gravity a no brainer? Any easy big ticket items/ suggestions as current at 3550#s w half tank and no driver. Easy ones are removing interior trim with sound deadening material, front seats (replace with race seats), rear seats and the battery. It all depends on far from a street car you are willing to go. 6. Anything else? Is this too much too soon? I think the car is in a great spot after all new bushings to just be a NA track rat w full interior .. I’d recommend extracting all performance from a NA engine before turning it into a SC engine. |

I like my ess g1 but I’m not sure id do it on a track car, it does heat soak on the street. Maybe the Do88 stuff will help especially with a hood that has a lot of large vents

Upgrades for track season 2
Hello Everyone,
I had some upgrades installed at Seems Legit Garage in Michigan this past week and half to prepare the car for track season 2. I had the Precision Monoball Front Upper Control Arm Bearing Kit installed, ap racing 9449 rear bbk with Cobalt racing pads, gt4 high wing risers, solid diff and subframe bushings, aim solo 2 DL and finally aim smartycam 2.1. I cannot wait to see how the car feels now with these simple but hopefully effective upgrades. |

I don't know how it was mounted but there were supporting mods needed. I believe there is going to be flex unless you go chassis mounted.

First Track Day of the Year
Hi All,
The car ran really well overall with the new upgrades. I still have to shake off some of the rust from not driving a couple months but I am excited to get the car going. The new XR1 pad from Cobalt is very agressive and I will probably change out to the XR2 just to protect the rotors a tad more seeing as not a super fast MPH car. I had only one real "issue" when i put the car back on my lift at home. I will be getting new axle boots to see if this helps but saw a little bit of leaking. I am assuming this is related to the rear sway bar and more agressive adjustments. My plan for next track day in 3 weeks is to run the same setup and then if all goes well upgrade to 18x10.5 in the front and 18x11 in the rear. Currently I am 18x10 square. -TJ |

Mid Season Update
Car has ran wonderfully the past 8 track days for this season. Mid ohio and gingerman went well. I am excited for road america in a couple weeks and then WGI to wrap up the season. I am getting new lip, brake cooling, and new studs/spacers just to be safe.
