LCI Tail Light swap (2011 M3)

Hi all,

I haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have a 2011 LCI E92 M3. The previous owner had the tail lights smoked (painted). I have a body shop in town that'll remove it and put it back to stock for $150. This is the only reputable shop in town.

I have another option of picking up a pair from a local:

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...coupe/?pdk=AQE

If I went this route and swapped them, are they plug n play? Or will it involve coding? I figure if I buy these I could sell my pair and break even or make some money versus shelling out $150 to have the paint removed. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

you can get the LCI tailights and they are PNP, but coding will need to be done to remove the bulb check so you do not get a error code.

Thanks I appreciate it. Hopefully I can find someone capable of this.

They shouldn't need any coding if your car already has the LED lamps from the factory (which it should since they came out in 2011)

This is what I was hoping for and thought would make the most sense because I already have the LED lamps from the factory

If you already have the LCI Tails from factory, then you will not need any coding. P&P 100%.

Hes right. My buddy has a 2011 and replaced them (his were cracked) and it was PnP. No coding required

Thanks all for your help. Confirmed, was 100% just a swap, no coding needed.

What's there to confirm? Logic dictates that if you already have LED taillamps, then you can swap in new ones as many times as you'd like. Your car is built with them stock...

As you can see above, there was some confusion so I wanted to give a definitive answer for anyone else going this route.
