DTEC Angel Eyes E-92 Lighting install

We installed them.. wow.. 2 hours and 20 minutes. While the lights are phenomenal, the instructions or lack there of, are about as bad as can be for an aftermarket product.

The key for install is to put the module, wires AND the LED bulb deep into the base of the housing and then pull the LED bulb forward from inside the base housing to bring it forward to the headlight opening. The reason this is required is because the heat sink on the back of the LED bulb is too large to slide it in from the front.

Will post pictures tomorrow.

Those instructions are woefully inadequate. They are terrible. I read those before install and they do not get the point across clearly as to how to best get the bulbs into the bulb housings

I just did mine 2 weeks ago. Great LEDs but I know exactly what you mean but pain to install and has no instructions.

They are exactly like lux 160s in case you are wondering. Side by side, you cannot tell a difference. They're certainly impressive and light up the outter rings well. The LED has an amazing build weight with the heat sink. The heat sink makes it more difficult to get the bulb in the hole but makes it easier to rotate and lock. No errors and no flickering.

Mine lasted a few months which I not happy about (car is a garage queen). I pulled up to a convenience store and saw in my reflection; a black eye. I'm sure I just got lucky with a faulty unit (the module died) because that would be just ridiculous. My last dtec's lasted a couple years. Regardless, they are replacing it under warranty and had no issue doing so.

Keep us posted and post some pictures.

Which DTEC version did you see side by side with the LUX 160? Was it the V10 or V12 with 12 LEDs per bulb?

I have the V10 128w (and they have 12 leds).

When one of the DTEC died, I had to get something quick as a replacement since i had an event the following weekend. I wanted to see the hype with LUX 160s so I just ordered up a set. I replaced the dead side first and so i could compare them. I didn't take a picture because i figured it would be pointless.

Had i known a 200w version of the DTEC was coming out, i would have waited!

Edit: OP, what version do you have? I didn't know about the V12 so I assumed you had V10s

all of our DTEC angel eyes comes with a basic install guide, and correct it does take a while for installation, 1 to 2 hours, this is due to our massive heat sink for the very max heat dissipation, it will require extreme finesse and patience, however as JSL mentioned our online guide provides a very depth installation method step by step and its very informative with many pictures, our DTEC V12s now offer an amazing heat fan for even "Brighter" output and longer lifespan. Cheers

Love the brightness of AE from E92-Lighting but unfortunately lifespan is short. E92-Lighting did send replacement once contacted them about issue of AE but it's embarassing to drive with one of the angel eyes not working during the waiting period. Don't forget the massive hassle of re-installing. Increase in brightness resutling in additional heat and shorter lifespan.

I went back to AE with less brightness but much longer lifespan. Better than driving around with one of the AE not working every few months.

For me both the lights and the electronic boxes failed at separate times. Life span doesn't seem to be that long on average.

Out of the two sets that I have owned, both failures were the DC converter module. My theory is they are failing because a switching power supply is not meant for a power source that is molested by PWM. Capacitors are used to smooth the voltage before entering the switching power supply circuit and it should be a rather large. The module for the lux is physically large enough that it is possible to have a cap powerful enough but, I wouldn't know.

Thanks

Fair enought mate, I was more looking for your comment on how you have designed your product to avoid described power supply issue and ensure life lenght.

Thx

ok, thanks pooyab, and JuzMe, your issue was for one module, we sent two driver modules and everything is perfect and elegant again, however, since then, we have redesigned our driver modules to full aluminum unlike the first prototype. and yes, its not easy to install, but installing it correctly will have no issues, installing it incorrectly will have issues eventually.

all of our DTEC driver modules need to be installed underneath the H8 bulb socket location, so at the bottom on the headlight where is there is no heat, heat will cause issues so it needs to be installed in a location where there is no excessive heat, no heat, no problems, heat and there will be issues.
