Gotta' say though, that Audi S5 looks pretty nice! Though, if the S5 only undercuts the new M3 by a few grand, I think the market is going to see that most people would rather spend another $3 or $4K for the extra 60-85HP. And YOU KNOW, the M3 is going to get crazy press attention on the incredible reviews like no other car can.

Looking at that list of cars, I think all cars need to have the reverse swinging doors like the RR convertible has.
It makes more sense from an ergonomoics standpoint if you as me. You always are trying to swing your feet out first when you exit a car. Therefore, you should have more room to do so. Also, when entering, the first thing in is your feet. Having more room to do that would seem much more reasonable... Just MHO... |

Not possible. EVERY M car is about 200lbs heavier than the top of the line series car. Here's a few examples...
Z4 3.0is = 3000lbs, MZ4 = 3200-3300 lbs 550i = 3800 lbs, M5 = 4000lbs E46 330 = 3200-3300, E46M3 = 3400lbs Although the M models have some nice light weight materials, you need beefier suspension/brakes/wheels/LSD/Engine/Tranny and everything else I missed so it's going to be a couple hundred pounds heavier than the 335i so you're looking at a 3750-3800lb if history repeats.... |

That is why I was surprised by the C&D figure of "under 3500 lbs"

it's possible. if they put E46 M3 CSL specs on the standard one they could easy keep it under 3500 lbs. carbon bumpers roof light wheels. aluminum trunk and hood. no problem. i mean realistically none of that stuff is THAT expensive. its only expensive when produced in low quantities.

i have heard the new m3 will be having a carbon fiber roof first launching with smgIII later on stick. but also later on smgIII and stick with retractable carbon fiber roof not too long from release. so i am a bit curious on how the sales of coupe and conv will be. either way go m3
