New Audi S5 review on Edmunds

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..1.*

Very comparable in stats to the 335i, wasn't expecting that. It is also about 12-13K more than the 335i base price.

0-60 4.9 s
1/4 mile: 13.3 at 104.6
Skidpad: 0.91g
Slalom: 68.6 miles

thanks for the link. Why were you not expecting that? Its heavier than the 335i and has AWD which the 335i did not have when it was tested. The low 13's is impressive for stock also. Those numbers are slightly better than other S4's I have seen tested. I think the motor in the S5 has more power than in the S4 also.

Audi is a nice car, no doubt. But for an extra $20K, I'd rather have a 335i in the garage and $20k in the bank.

Nice car, but expensive; for that kind of $$, think E92 M3!

Thats because the S5 uses a detuned version of the RS4 v8.

I'm sure this is not a big deal, as Audi owners are pretty much used to this but:

Yup, we had one in 1981. Went right down the elevator shaft in a parking garage in Manhattan.

this is funny! when it comes to G37 vs. 335i everybody "ew" the G37, but when it comes to the nicer audi we see the same logic used by infiniti enthusiasts...

I hesitate to take too much stock in the stock price. MB and BMW make a whole lot of things options that aren't options on audi's. A Nav option would probably give the S5 all the things my 3 has minus the sunshade and the bluetooth

There is nothing wrong with the car.... All Audi's warning lights come on when the key is in the ignition but the engine is switched off. You can clearly see the engine is not on. PWND!

Base price seems to be $53k, which is only $12k more than a 335i Coupe.
But it would be only $10k more than a 335xi Coupe, as it comes standard with AWD.
But I think it comes standard with leather, so now only $8k more.
It may come with all sorts of things standard (MMI, NAV perhaps etc.).

Until the US spec and price is released, it cannot be compared. Sure, I expect it to be more expensive than a similarly equipped BMW Coupe, but no more than $4-5k when all is said and done.

This is a lot less than the difference between similarly equipped G37 and 335 Coupes. But when this argument comes around, 1/2 half the forum screams that money isn't everything etc.

I think the A5 is more meant to be a direct comparison to the 335i and not the S5. S5 is slotted between A5 and RS5 (if they decide to make one) and we all know RS5 is within the same class as the M3

It's actually essentially the same motor as the S4 with FSI. The RS4 motor has some internal improvements that are not in that motor.
