Help with e92 m3

I wanted to learn how to work on my car so I took my exhaust off and reinstalled it (since I'm planning on getting a new exhaust in the future). And when I put it back on it is much louder than before. I think the sound is coming from one of the cats, but I'm confused because the pipe is connected and clamped down.

So, what all did you take off? Full exhaust, or just back half? Hear any leaks in a certain area other than "maybe a cat"? Did you remove o2 sensors from the bungs?

If its by the cats I would check that flange to make sure its seated correctly. Also make sure the donut gasket is still there and not damaged.

I agree, bought my car with 48k and when i took apart the exhaust, the gasket just kinda crumbled. Check the seating and gaskets, dont see any other reasons why it would be louder after reassembly.
