2013 M3 for sale at Carmax NC

Hey just curious if anyone here is familiar with the car located at the Carmax in North Carolina.

VIN is WBSKG9C54DJ593743

Looks like it had an enthusiast owner based off the blacked out badge.

And what appears to be a Euro front bumper as well.

Word of caution:

My first car I found out years later had been in a front end collision. Also the rear windshield had all the defroster elements ripped out I guess when they unceremoniously pulled out the previous owners window tint.

I later shopped for an m3 with them that was all beat up and had a line in the hood from a pathetic paint job trying to fix the obvious front end collision it had been in. When I pointed this out, the guy told me "it comes like that from the factory". When I told them the hood didn't close they forced it close and said "see it's fine".

This all said their carmax warranty is awesome.

My experience anyway.

Mine had a rather poorly painted front bumper, with overspray on the lights, honeycomb, and the black ducts painted body color, plus a bit of touch up on what appeared to be a key mark. Great color match and good quality paint but shoddy work, it was obvious that carmax did it because it still smelled like fresh paint. The rest of the car was clean as hell and in great shape, and I could confirm it didn't have damage when I pulled the bumper to replace the ducts.

Carmax said their policy is specifically that they do not accept 'frame damaged vehicles' and I was told that if I wanted to get it on a lift, I would have to buy the car, take it to a shop, then return for a full refund if I wasn't happy with the shape of the car underneath.

Wasn't thrilled about this policy, but I tried not to worry given how great their warranty is, like you said. I paid about $3600 for the 48k mile, 4 year warranty, with a $300 deductible. As long as I make fewer than 7 claims, I'm better off with the $300 deductible than the $100/200.

I'd really encourage anyone on the fence to get this car from carmax while you still can, how else can you get a worry free experience for 4 years? It's a better warranty than from the factory and you cannot put a price on peace of mind. No fear of driving the shit out of this car, it's great.

It will be getting inspected by a trusted shop first thing after purchase. The Euro front bumper could mean the original was damaged and replaced with that one.

And that is why I was not too concerned. Will be getting their warranty for sure.

If you do buy it make sure to check the oil level, they overfilled mine so I called to let them know. I bought an oil change kit from FCPEuro, brought the receipt in and they reimbursed me for it.

Its a super dark blue from what I can tell not Jerez, possibly custom ordered. As I don't remember a super dark blue being a standard color.

I bought mine from Carmax this May. I shipped it over from Ft.Lauderdale. I bought the warranty for $3k and have been pleased as all get out with no problems. Carmax was a great experience in my opinion.

If you guys have Carmax Maxcare and your DCT leaks, you can usually get it repaired on warranty, with a full fluid and pan replacement, and you can likely convince a shop to push for filter replacement too, while you're there. Since BMW considers it a """lifetime unit""" with """lifetime fluid""", any leaks are considered a failure, and you can actually use it to your advantage. I've done it with two warranties now.

What was the verdict when you got the vehicle checked out?

Bumper was a shitty rep, had major front end collision body gaps were awful. Clutch was nearly toast and for whatever reason the car was shaking for lack of a better term while idling. I did not buy it lol.
