Redline 10W60, now Liqui Moly 10W60 last 2 oil changes only 33K miles. Change every 3K miles. Dive mostly spring-summer-fall in NJ, very little cold winter temp use.

I believe there is no proof yet that this oil is causing this issue ... No weird noises yet from our engine 2008 e93 63k mi , we purchased it a week ago ... I might switch to Castrol 10w60 next time ... |

I switched from 10w60 to 0w-40 and I do hear the valve tick now, live in SoCal doing this in the mean time till I replace my RB then I will return to 10w-60

I have run 0W40 for about 3 years on my year round street driven 08E90M3. I ran 10W60 before that. I'll redo the bearings again in a couple of years and see whether they did better with 0W40 or not.

Just changed oil w/ Mobil 1 5w50. All is good so far.
I'm curious if more of the 0w40 owners would try this viscosity if it was more readily available from various retailers? |

Maybe I will look for and try a 5W50 next time. If I tracked the car or lived in a very hot area, I would not use 0W40, but I have no worries for my driving -- I would be more worried about using 10W60. |

I've used the OEM reco for years and years.
That includes the E46M that I put 100k miles on and continued to double track until it had 170k total miles I don't see any good reason to move to something else |

Rod bearings done at 89k miles, Castrol 10w60 it's whole life before that and LM 10w60 after that. Im at 106 now and my oil reports are always clean. Engine warms up quick and I've never had a temp related problem at the track. ( I live in central FL).
I don't understand 0w40 for anyone in warm climate.

5 qt 0W-40 M1 is cheaper than oil filter and everyone is ok to use it on M cars? You'll be fine for couple years guys no worries let the next owner deal with it after you sell it well done..

Been using different variants of RL. Will send all the samples at once to BSL after another track day at Suzuka. Looking forward to it.

I agree Mobil 1 is a great oil and reasonably priced compared to BMW Shell 10W60. Even cheaper with the Mobil 1 rebate. I have been using Mobil 1 0W40 for 4 years. Last change was Rotella 5W40 but will probably return to Mobil 1.

I've just changed mine with Miller's cfs 5w40 nt+ .I certainly wouldn't go back to 10w60 with the clearance issues. I only do about 3000 miles a year and change oil annually.
