This is Santorini Claus,

I'm heralding from the North Pole with some SB news for y'all....

There will be coming later next week on BAT, a 15K mile SB E92 M3 DCT that is a prime example...

Start sharpening your pencils, it should make for a very exciting episode in BMW Individual land.....

Seller refers to the car as a "Limited Edition", but later on admits that it isn't, its just mimicking the UK500 cars.

For sanity's sake, I wish everyone who references the UK 500 cars would quit quoting that same idiot article that refers to the "iconic M badge colors" as "Imola Red, Mineral White, and Santorini Blue". The wording is almost identical in that ad, a couple of articles linked in the talkback below it, and several other places. I keep finding more. Everyone seems to be quoting the same fluff that some guy pulled out of thin air at some point, and its wrong.

Most "internet car sales managers" can't even spell "DCT", and they probably think "six speed" is a bicycle.

However, its easy to defeat on most search engines. Set all your preferences: body style, mileage, etc. Don't bother selecting "manual", just leave the transmission options alone. Go into the custom search box (if the service offers one, most do), and type "-DCT, - dual clutch". That simple operand should make most of the DCT cars disappear.

I use such tricks to great effect on places like Craigslist. Searching for "M3 -sedan -conv*", and then clicking on "titles only" and "bundle duplicates" can save a ton of time.

Now if there was a simple way to block every ad where someone listed a 325/328/330 with the "M3 Package", I'd be very happy.

On Craigslist they always list the DCT Trans as "Other"

Great Guess.

If you scroll to the first remark from the seller, there are several fees and duty associated with this purchase price +2.5% to import to USA....

If it's a US buyer, I would guess the car sells around 46.5-49.5K + Bat fees of 5% +2.5% duty et all..........+shipping............

It's a great spec for the right long term buyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Q for everybody?

When you look at the actual bids, not comments, well maybe, but focus on bids for now on BAT for this car (and any car for all intensive purposes).....

If you click on the bidders, you can see their history...
I find it peculiar to say the least......
So many low bids never anything close to actual sales
So many bids on different cars, not something that makes sense either......
I am just curious how much of these auctions could be influenced in house, vs. actual genuine people ?

Maybe I have been watching too much Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I'd appreciate everybody's comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're partially correct, the seller is correct in saying that these are limited edition cars, just not part of the UK500 as you've mentioned.

The SB cars that came to our market were called "edition series" cars and it was strictly cosmetic upgrades; black chrome kidneys, side markers, exhaust tips, etc.

I own the other Santorini m3 that was originally sold in Alberta, these two cars were actually sitting beside each other when I picked mine up 5 years ago. Yes this car was sold originally in Alberta.

Thanks! I was surprised it went for what it did but the Canadian thing threw some people I think. For those wondering, import costs ran around $3,100 including $1,300 for transport.
