Shift boot

Does anyone know if a shift boot from a reg 3er will fit a m3? 6mt of course.
Looking to install a BMW performance knob but dont want too cut the boot.
Any other options?

The boot and the knob will fit. The only thing that you lose is the illumination.

Oh cool. So the BMW alcantara one for the 3er should fit my car. Just wanted too make sure cause the parts guy at the dealer didn't know if it will fit lol.

Should fit fine. I have the Alcantara/Performance shift knob from the E46 M3/Z4MC on my E92 M3 and it fits fine.

Should fit fine. I have the Alcantara/Performance shift knob from the E46 M3/Z4MC on my E92 M3 and it fits fine.

IIRC the plastic ring is unique to the M, while the boot and knob will fit the piece that 'secures' the boot to the console will not.

Oh.
Cuz some ppl say it will fit. Is there some modding for the boot involved too secure it too the console?

i ordered the performance boot, going to swap out the M3 ring and put it onto the boot to make it work. i wished it was plug and play haha...

Tischer has two versions of the boot and they're not that expensive..

I just ordered the oem one. Wanted too try and keep everything oem if I can. I'm just anal that way lol
Those after market ones look good too. Good choice on that silver one

Hey guys I just got my oem alcantara shift boot and it looks pretty diff from my. It looks a little bigger. U guys sure it will fit??

The boot will fit but the ring won't.... It is M specific.

So if you are thinking this will be direct swap, you've been misled.

Apparently you can. I'm not sure how, but I'd guess it involves seperating the plastic ring from the leather boot by heating the bonding or something like that.

it was easy to separate the rings, i just used 3m adhesive and tada:

I like the performance knob...shifting is a lot more crisp now. very solid piece!
