How do you garage your ///M?
So I bought a 10'X20' canopy last year from harbor freight ( yeah, i know) and it lasted through that last harsh winter we had without any problems.
Then suddenly with this most recent snowfall, it completely collapsed. Thankfully, the M wasn't parked under there at the time. So here I am asking, how do ya'll who don't have a garage protect your M from the elements? -Khaled |

Yeah mines actually from California and the PO didn't do a great job of protecting the roof from sun damage/fading. But i don't want things/bird shit falling on my car all the time.

A well reasoned and reasonable suggestion.

I live in a high rise with outdoor parking in Florida. I pay extra for a covered spot which is just a canopy so it protects from the sun but not rain. I cover the car with an all-weather cover when it's clean.
I'm currently looking for a house with a garage. I can't stand having the car outside.

Mine sits on the driveway and stares longingly all night at the garage where all our boxes and other crap are parked

OP good luck. I have a Weathertech car cover on my GT-R that sits outside right now until I can get my catastrophe of a garage cleaned up. Fits really well and pretty soft on the inside. Unless I was able to properly secure a really strong canopy I wouldn't do it for the reason you mentioned. Would just stick the car cover, or... Have any Macgyver skills? Maybe bury some square or round metal tubing, screw on some pulleys & maybe a crank to help with tension, find a quality canvas, use steel cable if need be. If you can weld could get real crazy with it. Might work? Could also bury sleeves that the posts could drop in to so that it can all be taken down. |

You know what's worse than the elements? My neighbors cat that likes to lay on my fresh wax and marking its territory. Can't kill the thing. I'll get blamed for eating it being Asian and all lol!!! The same cat lady use to feed these wild peacocks (more like someone's pets that they didn't want). Those f'ers bread like rabbits with a continuous supply of food. There was like 22 two of them. No joke. The males would Kick box with your car. Making loud ass rooster sounds in the am. Luckily I didn't own my M car. Finally the city stepped in and removed them. But had to deal with that bs for about two years.

My M3 is also parked outside but at least on a driveway. I tend to wax/spray sealant every 4-5 months and if not driving it or parked in direct sun, end up using a car cover. The best way to protect it outside is a car cover..

Spring/Summer: Underground parking at my apartment. If I do take it to work (rare) then it will be parked underground in my office parking.
Winter: In my parent's garage at their house hooked up to a battery tender. The only time my car sees day light is when I take it out on weekends |
