Hi Rich,
Thanks again for the ride at the 5 mile yesterday.

I noticed that when your car would go across the kerbing it was so much smoother than my car, like they weren't even there.

What dampers/springs are you on?

Chris!

Thanks for all the tips yesterday, OMG it improved my driving mechanics by x1000!!

The car went across the kerbing smoothly due to your weight transfer and tips on using the whole track!

I'm on BILSTEIN B6's!

Current Suspension Setup

- BILSTEIN B6 (raised the car about 3/8 into the rear, which is good in my opinion)
- New Stock Springs
- New top hats

Tires also come into play.

Michelin Super Sport
  • Front: 265/35/18
  • Rear: 295/35/18
Alignment
  • Front LH: -1.21
  • Front RH: -1.41
  • Rear LH: -2.16
  • Rear RH: -1.84 (slight rubbing, I think you commented on that during our 2 or 3rd lap?)

My setup may not be for everyone, but I'm happy to hear you had a great experience!

Thank you for the comments! see you at the next track day!

I heard Jordan is a beast on track?

Yep, Johal E32 gave me a fantastic ride in his e36!!!

The first time you were headed for a direct kerb strike, my thought was "Oh dear lord. Here we go. This is gonna get us airborne or break a wheel😬"

But it was a giant nothingburger.

With my stock EDC and 19" wheels…oooof!

I wasn't really of the mindset that I would target dampers until mine failed, but now I'm obsessing about getting something aftermarket.

I'm not an expert, so take this observation as such.
My mental notes of your driving was, whenever you did happen to miss the line, it seemed like there was a tendency to get into a turn just a little too fast, which seemed like it caused you to struggle to hit the apex.
When you started coming into the turns under a little more control, you started getting to the apex and getting on the gas sooner.
Then when we worked on using the whole track, letting the car have its head on exit and getting all the way to the exit kerbing, it became much smoother and faster.
At least that's what I thought.

I agree on this 100% I took Jordan and my other buddy after the session with you.

They said my driving was smooth!

I'll upload the run soon, YouTube is taking forever.

Track Master Chris!

Hi Rich,
I was finally able to try out my 18" track wheels/tires at Sears Point last weekend.

What an improvement the extra sidewall makes in terms of smoothness over Kerbs and rumble strips.
Also, the improvement in the overall feel of the car during turns was a really nice surprise as well.
Just makes the car so much more fun.

For my use, I don't feel a need to increase the spring rates once my dampers need to be replaced.

Thanks again for that offer of a ride at the 5 mile, so glad I said yes!

Chris
