Limp Mode from Ebox fan

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever had their car go into limp mode from an E Box fan? The only code I'm getting is 27a0. I recently purchase a low miles 2008 m3 and it goes into limp mode every other time I drive it. No check engine light. I just get the one stored code. I have cleared the code a few times, but it always comes back with limp mode. And, the fan works when I hook it up to an external power source.

Thanks for your response. I replaced the e-box fan and it's working, but the car is still going into limp mode and throwing the same code. I've even cleared the code. Is there an e-box temp sensor that could be bad? The wiring looks fine, the e-box is clean with good air flow from the fan. Also, no signs of moisture. Limp mode is completely random. Sometimes it kicks in while the car is idling on first start up. The other night it went into limp mode three times on a 15 mile drive, but no limp mode on the previous 15 mile drive which was in hotter conditions. The car is completely unsafe to drive. Thanks.

Hi everyone, so the car is just in limp mode now. It comes on immediately after start up even after I clear the computer. I've tried two different e box fans that both work. I can see them working while installed. According to my scanner the DME temp does not exceed 114 degrees. I am still just getting the 27a0 code. No other codes! The car is super clean with low miles, with a top speed of 35mph. Could the DME be toast?

I am trying to figure out my cause for the DME fan ode as new one was installed but still getting the code. The DME has a TEMP sensor and the fan is used to push outside air onto the DME.
