More throttle actuators

Over the last two weeks I've had the p1628 code twice so I know it's time to do the actuators. The question I have is has anyone had experience just replacing the gears instead of the full unit? Did it clear your code? I would prefer to spend $200 to replace the gears on both banks instead of dropping $1k to replace both full units. I haven't had a chance to open them up yet so I'm just curious to see what experiences others have had with the issue
Let me know thanks.

Once you have errors the circuit board is probably messed up too. Just get the mpowermotorsports one

It is necessary to give them the bad actuator in exchange? Cause I live in Brazil, and it would be complex to ship to them.

Go to mpowermotorsports and call it a day. $500 isch for both refurbished, with life time warranty.
Yes, they need your old in return. Either up front, or deposit while you replace.

They are $700+ for both actually how you came up with $500? Plus $100 for each deposit fee. Do you know some trick that we don't?

Both are £450 (~$560): https://www.rebuild.org.uk/buy-rebuild-service/. I paid another £30 for shipment. Again, BMW wanted 10.5KSEK (~$1050) EACH over here so felt major bargain.

Mpower gets them from rebuild in the UK. In the US new ones have ranged from as little as $500 for vdo Continental to nearly twice that for bmw, depending on when you bought. A quick search showed $545 shipped each right now:

Garage List
+ mpowermotorsports UK rebuilds. They should last forever. Always replace both TVA units plus the Fuel Tank Breather Valve.

If you get the BMW or VDO TVA units they will fail again in 60-80k miles. You have to pay for the labor each time too.

The electronics fail, which is the weak link...the soft gears are a secondary issue.

The OEM TVAs used to cost $1400 each, then $1100, and now $600-700. BMW never redesign the flaws in the TVAs.

Cheers

Sits at 72k right now. Replaced them like a month ago with mpowermotorsports and everything's been good. Wayyyy cheaper. Send back the old ones and everything's set.
