Headlight film
Anyone install headlight film to protect their headlights from rock chips or possibly cracks?
anyone tried the headlight armor or lamin-x ones? I had lamin-x for the E46, it was decent but I don't know how good they are for the E92. My other solution is to have it simply wrapped by premier. |

My headlights are protected with a film, not sure which one though. My installers wrapped my whole front end in 3M, but told me they used a different one for my headlights. Looks clear and imperfection free to me.

I had Venture Shield on. Working ok so far. Planning to switch to a slightly tinted film.

So i finally got around to installing my headlight film, and the cut outs were too small. There was extra material around the inside of the headlight, closest to the kidneys, but it was too small around the orange corner light. Even with heating and stretching, they came up too short. I would never buy from lamin-x again.

If you wanted a 10/10 snug fit you could have bought the smaller sheets and custom cut your covers. After installing both, you would rather install the kit and deal with a minimal difference in the size/fit. |

I'm using xpel film on my headlights. I think they use a pretty thick film and I've had good luck with them (about 5 or 6 cars) in the past.
About 50 or 60 bucks, iirc. |

I just wrapped my 2006 Denali's headlight's, fogs and driving lights and the rest of the front of the vehicle with the new Avery Dennison "Nano Fusion" film......Looks awesome, installed easily, scuff resistant, optically very clear with no extrusion lines. I previously had the Avery Dennison Gen 1 film which gave me 100% protection after 73,000+ miles and dozens (at least 50) of river trips through the desert. The film started to turn a bit opaque, but Avery Dennison warrantied the film, and I had the new "Nano" film installed to to replace it all. I am definitely a firm believer of this PPF product, wish they had one for the windshield, that was the first to snap and get very pitted......

how difficult is it to remove these films once installed? will the removal leave any adhesive or possibly damage the headlights in any way over time?

Using a steamer, I was able to remove the entire Invisible Bra including the headlights and fog lights and A-pillars in about 30min with no damage to the original OEM paint. Some small amounts of adhesive residue remained which were easily removed with Stoner "Tarminator and Xenit"....

As long as the film is installed onto OEM paint, you wouldn't have any issues with very few exceptions. It is aftermarket paint that is a hit or miss. The better paint shops would hold up like OEM. Some of the cheaper bodyshops, it is quite likely that paint would come up if the film is ever removed.
