I would have loved to get the E90 in Manual, but I didn't want to learn manual on a $95k car -.- Nonetheless, DCT is impeccable

Drove nothing but manual cars for 20 years, here in Europe everyone learns to drive a manual so even old ladies 'drive stick'.....it really hasn't got the same cudos as is seems to have in the States.

Having said that i had no intention of buying the M3 in anything other than MT.....until i tried them both. IMO DCT suits the S65 much better than the 6MT. To each his own.

owning an MT myself, I think this is likely true.
The m3's poor transmission and lack of TQ lend itself to a DCT car. Plus the more aggressive gear ratio's of the DCT help the M3.

That said, I still enjoy the challenge of driving my MT, and am happy with it.

I think the MT will fit the next m3 better which will have more TQ.

Im still undecided as to which direction I will go at that time as Im sure many others are as well.

And what do you get when you buy a super driver focused 5 series diesel Auto? If i owned the cars in your sig i would ask for a pack of tissues to be included so i could wipe away the tears every time i drove them. To each his own.

Good point about the new M3 - If i decide to get one hopefully BMW will still give us the choice of MT..............

I test drove the new 335i yesterday (why, well I was invited by our local dealership they put on a big bash and test drive to introduce the folks here to the new 3 Series).

I found the 6 Cylinder/turbo assist engine quite responsive in Sport Mode. Apparently the automatic is now standard. Time will tell what the next engine choices for the next M3 Generation will be. Might it be Automatic as a standard? and MT as an option we shall see.

I was impressed with the new 3 Series, however a M3 it is not ... glad I have my V8

I did not like the new position of the iDrive/Navigation screen.

There is a new 335i in my local showroom- have been meaning to test drive it for a couple of weeks now - it is 6MT though - maybe the auto being standard is only in the States?

I am in Canada, the salesman mentioned on the new 3-Series the Auto is now Standard and the Manual will be an Option.

You might be right since we Europeans prefer Manual on our cars
