Gas Guzzler Tax

Has anyone heard any further news on the likelyhood of a gas guzzler tax? I believe the last time this topic was thoroughly discussed it was assumed that it would be $1,300 USD. My dealer has no information as of today.

No more info. yet. M3 is not on the EPA website. It will need to be on the Monroni sticker when the first US cars are delivered next month.

Thanks. Hopefully, Drvai is correct.

No GGT?

Yeah, wishful thinking. The M5/M6 is rated at 16.5 mpg under the old EPA test formula for GGT, resulting in a $3,000 tax. To have no tax the M3 would have to be rated at least 22.5 -- ain't gonna happen.

It would be kind of funny if the 6MT rating was really close to one of the mileage interval cut-offs, and DCT were to move it up to the next interval, resulting in less GGT than the 6MT.

Not funny, it could easily happen. That would effectively reduce the significant cost this option will likely carry by a few hundred dollars.

Hehe, I know it isn't on their site either. I combed it last week.

Yes, and make it even more difficult to chose. That's why I said it would be funny.
