loud rattle above 40mpg

Hi this is my poor beater e90. Happened out of no where. Always kicks in about 40-45mph and gets louder, but by 60 it almost speeds up like a washing machine and gets quiet? Windshield molding?

I had something very similar and it was a piece of the windshield molding flapping against the roof of the car.
Once I peeled the loose section off, the noise went away.

did you replace the whole upper trim. or just cutoff the rubber hitting the body?

I don't know if that seal actually prevents water from entering.

The trim piece is not the seal.

Was on a 700 mile road trip when it first happened.
Had no idea what was making the noise, so I was pretty much on suicide watch for about 500+ miles.
Stopped for fuel, and while washing the windshield I noticed the loose piece of rubber trim, tore it off.
The noise went away for about 30 minutes, but then another length of trim came loose.
When I got home I ordered a new part.
