Great Drive and Great Service near Death Valley
I want to share a great service experience in a pinch at BMW of Bakersfield.
I took a drive through Death Valley on the way back from Vegas yesterday. First, it's an awesome drive. If you're nearby I highly recommend it. While stopping in Pahrump, NV before heading toward the valley I got a low oil warning. After some amusing conversations at Walmart, a local quick lube place, and O'Reiley's I learned that 10w60 is hard to come by in the middle of the desert. We had to go through Death Valley with the oil low (fortunately it wasn't too hot), but didn't really want to drive all the way back to SF like that. After some awesome sights we found that there was a dealership in Bakersfield and called ahead. When we got there a service advisor (Nikki) met us out front. She put a quart in the car and we were on our way. No need to check into service, no paperwork. We were back on the road in less than 5 minutes. I couldn't have asked for anything more in the situation. It was awesome and a true testament to what great service you can get from the right dealership. |

Yeah, no charge. The car is still in the free maintenance period so I think it would have been covered anyway, but they didn't even take the time to check. More concerned with getting us back on the road quickly.

Nicely done Bakersfield BMW.
I find I burn more oil on long drives than I do at the track. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
