Limp mode

Hey guys will putting an axle back exhaust on and cat less mid pipes throw my car into limp mode without a tune? Ordered the axle back exhaust and the deal was too good too pass up with the mid pipes included. I plan on getting a tune as soon as spring rolls around where I'll drive my car a lot more (Pennsylvania winter). I just don't know if it's okay to put the mid pipes on now? Thanks!!

If you run a catless x-pipe then you need a tune.

I think the question is if youhave to get a tune or otherwise the car will be inopperable.

Others can chime in, but I believe without a tune you'll just see a check engine light (cel). Otherwise car runs ok. Have in order to take full advantage of the xpipe and turn off the cel you'll need a tune. Someone else can confirm.

Your car will not go into limp mode from a catless x-pipe. What you will notice is a huge torque dip in the low rpms which can be greatly helped by a tune (plus you'll receive a huge bump in power everywhere).

Great glad to hear that! I got these O2 sensor spacers I guess you can call them, they move the sensors back which trick the system so my CEL wont come on. I plan on getting my car tuned but like i said in one of my previous threads is Im still in college so Im basically doing everything on a budget. Thanks for all your help guess...ps MRHarris your car convinced me into getting an alpine white e92!!!!!!! all your mods are sick keep up the good work on the car

If you are getting ONLY an axleback exhaust, you will not have any problem at all since all emissions related "things" are by the primary cats (O2 sensors). Even the secondary cats can be removed without affecting anything.

When you say "mid pipes" are you speaking of the connecting pipes that connect to the OEM x-pipe right after the secondary cats? Or are you speaking of an actual x-pipe?

For the former, connecting pipes will not affect anything and you will not NEED a tune, as nothing emissions related is touched. For the latter, it depends on which type of x-pipe you are going with. If the primary cats are eliminated, then you will need some type of tune to get rid of your CEL. It won't go into limp mode though, so you're fine with that.

You don't get limp mode for no cats, just an annoying check engine light.
