Clunking noise e90 m3

To begin with, I Just replaced sway bar bushings, front control arms are ok..

Clunking noise over bumps, but goes away when the EDC setting is on sport.

Any ideas? Any experience with this?

Please help!

did you properly preload the sway bar bushings before you tightened down the bushing bracket?

The bushings were installed at a very reputable Indy garage, but I will follow up.

I’m wondering about either the EDC shocks themselves, or the shock mounts.
It’s very unusual to have the noise disappear under sport plus. The sway bar bushings would make noise either way...

I had a similar issue when my shocks went bad. The mounts were bad ass well.

Thx.

I’m leaning towards pulling shocks out, and replacing them as well as with new mounts.
Anyway of visually inspecting that EDC shocks are bad? They still function, but I wouldn’t want to replace them if they’re still good.

Not sure if you are still having issue as it is now March. I literally just had a similar issue last week after getting some suspension work done.
It turned out to just be my Left Front Lower Ball joint NUT was loose!
They tightened it up as well as all the nuts in its vicinity and it completely went away.

Anyway, not sure if we had the same issue but I figured i'd that just in case!

Thanks.

With the weather warmed up, I’m leaving the car at my Indi for a few days.
They’ll sort it all out, and I’ll let you know.

I’m not sure what you mean?

I replaced the bushings on the aftermarket bar and they proceeded to get chewed up.
Went back to stock sway bar and all is good.

Just wondering if the wear from high mileage caused the worn bushings

Replaced bushings or endlinks? If links, were you using stock or adjustable and were they the correct length for the aftermarket swaybar?

That’s a good question!

While the car was supposed to have stage 3 Dinan, I believe over time the previous owner replaced worn parts with different aftermarket or stock.
The garage owner took his time with my car this time and the cure was to replace the sway bar with stock.
I as tempted to go back to Dinan, but for the driving I do, this will be fine.

I am certainly just happy to have the clunk gone!

Now, of course, I still have brand new bilsteins b6 EDC...
