Another Comfort Access Issue with Trunk

I did a search but nobody seems to be having the same issue so I'll put it here and see if anyone else has experienced this.

I have been experiencing an issue with the comfort access with the trunk only.

When the car is locked, I can't open the trunk using comfort access. The key fob will open it and if I unlock the car, I can open the trunk. Locking and unlocking doors unaffected. Car starts when I push the button. Battery is relatively new.

Any thoughts?

I have exact same issue occur every couple weeks. No rhyme or reason, trunk comfort access will take an afternoon off then work fine the next day. Occured with old and new battery, so likely unrelated. Never had it checked since i just hit button on remote when this happens. If you find a cause let us know.

Did you check to see if it's locked inside the glovebox? There's a valet lock in there

I'll have to check, but, funny thing is, it worked fine this morning.

I've heard that there are antennae in all the CA locations (doors and trunk) so maybe the antenna in the trunk is starting to go?

Anyways, it's a 10 year old car that I only do 6,000 km or so per year (3,700 miles) so I can live with this.

Yeah, my glovebox is opened about once a year when i put annual registration paperwork in there. So that wouldnt explain why CA works for weeks at a time then decides to take the day off now and then. OP, mine has had this occur for maybe 8 months, replaced battery a couple months ago and no change. Since it usually comes back to life the next day, I never explored the issue. I am curious if you end up finding the cause.

I believe "comfort access to the trunk when locked " is available as a coded feature on/off. Otherwise the vehicle has to be unlocked.

Pretty sure it's listed in Carly comfort access coding. Haven't used Carly in a while so someone else would need to confirm with an active app subscription.

Could be you're pressing down too hard on the key. I know my main key is abused and gross compared to the second key that looks basically brand new.

My main key if I press down too hard it won't do anything

i'll have to take a look at this. my wife complains about her 335d doing a thing where the comfort access to the trunk doesn't work in certain circumstances. i forget what the sequence is for it to not work, but she's frustratedly used to it now. sometimes the trunk won't latch when this occurs as well.

It will open if I press the button on the key even if the car is locked. If I unlock the car with either CA or the key, the latch on the trunk will release it.

And the valet switch was set to unlocked.

Would again recommend looking at the coding. This is available in the comfort access coding options.

Lock tailgate when car locked
• on
• off
Tailgate cannot be unlocked, when car is locked. (codable in CAS)
