I'd be all over it if I were ready, beats paying $5k for used kit with no tune.
Not sure where you're getting that figure from but expect closer to $11,500 installed and be glad if you can find one for $5k used.
I said vf tuning https://www.vividracing.com/engineer...151575665.html

very good point but with the blowers at less than 50% of their capacity, don't think the bearing/shaft is getting much wear at 6-8psi when they can be run at higher than 20psi. vorthech blower rebuild is pretty cheap.

but I do agree if the alignment is off it could screw up the shaft.

lots of interesting view here.

My first E90 was a 09 with 72k on it when I supercharged it with a 625kit making 527whp while still having secondary cats.

I didn't do my bearings until 92k and despite all the talk here my bearings looked like they had just been put in. I did have routine of doing oil changes every 5k and allowing my car to warm up. it was daily driven and I did a few events in the car 1/2mile and 1/4 mile in other states.

Can anyone share thoughts on upgrading entry level kits? I'm leaning more 595 btw.

Also. Is doing RB essentially mandatory if going SC?
If you have never been to a track, I highly recommend just getting out there and getting more experience. The car is plenty with stock power. When you've maxed out or feel like the car is holding you back, then upgrade. Same with suspension and other crazy mods.

Forced induction will come with additional cooling demands, and it's not just rod bearings that get more wear. It's really the main bearings that break too. Not fun, not worth the extra weight and risks when the driver isn't needing it.

I agree that the car has plenty of stock power for a novice on track. With that said, OP mainly uses the car as a DD. There are no additional cooling demands for a street driven supercharged M3. Even on track, a novice driver will not come close to pushing the car hard enough to need additional cooling. Main bearing failures are very rare, let’s not overblow the issue.

Speak for yourself. I happen to think fast cars are incredibly fun, even though I don’t need ridiculous power. The additional 200hp is most definitely worth the extra weight for anybody that enjoys powerful cars.

Quite honestly, I would’ve sold my M3 years ago had I not supercharged it.

Hi I'm Ken - nice to meet you. I'll take your response with positive intent assumed. Agreed - 200 hp more would be fun! I am simply providing reasonable advice to someone who has indicated they will occasionally track. If they start running more often, then I wouldn't say what I've written is offensive or out of line, but take it as my 2 cents.

Regarding "speak for yourself" - sure, I would classify myself as just a middling weekend warrior. I'm not doing w2w racing nor do I win podium at time attack events. Doing 1-2 track days per month is already taxing from a maintenance perspective, so I stick by my opinion regarding track usage.

However, if tracking often and hard is potentially in the future, I'd like to share to the OP some feedback from someone who does track a lot, is fast, and is supercharged:

I don't have a supercharger, but regarding your question "Also. Is doing RB essentially mandatory if going SC?"

Depending on who you talk to on this forum, doing RB is essentially mandatory before starting your vehicle.

Me actually. But Autotalent is the primary distributor, so yeah that's where I'm waiting on them from.

Looking forward to getting this one on the hub dyno to tune it.
