Pilot sport 4s back order - need alternates

I've been in a backorder for 245 & 265/ 40ZR18 for essentially a year now for the Pilot S 4S. I have 219M rims. Best I can tell is they are 18x8.5 ET29 and 18x9.5 ET23.

Tirerack just moved my delivery date another 3 months. I fear they won't be able to meet that either since the rep said that date wasn't firm.

I would buy the super sports from them, which I currently have, but they're telling me their stock is from mid 2018. I don't want to be riding around on 6 year old dry tires in the next year or two.

I really want to get the Pilot S 4S tires. Is it possible to run another size tire on this rim that they might have in stock? If so, what would be some recommendations. Thanks!

255/40-18 and 275/40-18 will work too.
I have those on my 219 wheels but in A/S 3+

The closest equivalent is Continental Extremecontact Sport. They're a great tire

All, I appreciate the replies. So can I jump to a 255/275 on these rims with the 4S in the same profile? If not, how about a drop in profile to a 35?

Yes, that option would fit and work too - 255/35R18 and 275/35R18 on stock rim widths, though it will lower the ride height by about 0.3 inches. It's a best practice to preserve the load rating(s). I have also run 255/40R18 and 275/40R18 (which increases the ride height slightly (0.15 inches)) on the stock OEM 219 rims without problems or rubbing with stock suspension and alignment. Hope this helps.

I went with PS4S and love them. Maybe worth the wait.

Another vote for the Continentals. I'm happy with mine in a 255/35, 275/35-19 setup on stock ZCP rims.

I'm running them and put several track days on them too. Very responsive and firm choice. Not quite the same as PS4S in the wet but still competent.

Bump for you guys. They are back in stock. My tires just shipped. If anyone else was waiting, they still list 5 in stock at the 265 40 18 size.
