This thread gives me a lot of hope for high mileage S65s.

Coming from a 183k mile S52, I was always curious on the longevity of the E9x M3.

202k-mile 2010 DCT in Germany. Allegedly, one owner from new.

2yr/30k KM oil changes as per CBS from new, a few diff oil changes, at least those that were done at BMW, and no signs of rod bearings service from BMW.

Great find. I wonder if the Throttle Actuators were ever done. How about that oil cap.. Seems like it's been through some rough use judging by the front air dam scrapes and touch up... This one reminds me of the old TIMEX Advertisement tag line, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking"... Perhaps the Condition Based Service (CBS) oil change intervals are really the best way to go... Oh, I can hear the clamor now...

Fresh oil is best oil!

I think this car was just driven by someone with at least a couple brain cells and/or did in-between oil changes elsewhere.

It's very rare for a first owner here in Germany/most of Western Europe to do oil changes more frequently than what is set by the manufacturer. They'll spend 8k in mods but won't change oil for 30k kilometres.

Frankly, this is the one you want to buy! It's been used but not abused. One day with a detailer and it would look like a million bucks again.

You might be onto something there… In my 14 years of ownership (original owner of a 2008 E92 M3) these cars are a bit of a ticking time bomb especially when it comes to rod bearings throttle actuator's, valve covers and a few other odds and ends. However, if one could discover the service history this could be a real find. Possibly cheap too. By the looks of the front bumper chin spoiler area it's had its fair share of parking lot battles. Because it's a German car I guess it's no stranger to the autobahn either.

Rough use WRT bodywork is about the best kind of problem a car can have. It's rough use on the suspension and powertrain you have to be wary of.

Not abused? Well apparently it's been serviced regularly, but the bodywork has clearly been abused! And body work in general isn't cheap to fix (although likely cheaper than a new engine, lol).
And what's with those wheels? They look tiny, surely they're not 17" though??

What's WRT mean?

Yeah, guess I should have said "least bad" instead of "best".

Your parenthesis is my point. If a car's going to be in rough shape in some way, let it be bodywork. A rough engine is expensive as hell, and a rough chassis could point to comparable headaches (e.g. subframe or unibody bent from pothole impacts or something).

Plus, bodywork is purely cosmetic, and I'm assuming people are into this car more for how it drives than for how it looks. Though I make that assumption all the time and it often fails miserably...

Those look like 18" E46 M3 wheels. Pretty weird to see them on an E92

That's what I thought too.. I think the E46 M3 wheels are 0.5 inch narrower front and rear.. Hence the funky look on an E92 M3.

Ah that makes sense, until I saw the pic with the engine I wasn't even sure it was an M3 lol, narrower wheels explains it. And yea, they look weird!

I doubt it, it looks like their are seals between the headlights and bonnet (hood ) rather than an actual gasket sealing the lens to the body of the headlight.
I suppose failed seals could make a headlight problem worse if the headlight gaskets are failing.

Meet Tony and his 2008 E92 M3 six speed manual with 224,000 miles, and he’s the original owner. It’s on the original clutch too!

April 2023 check-in!

Who here with more than, say, 120k miles still tracks their car?

Mine has 154k right now. Tracking is on pause until a pretty sizeable refurb operation this summer, but I'm hoping to dive back in afterward. That odometer reading, though.... Rod bearings have been replaced but engine is otherwise original. Having nightmares of ventilating the block on track.
