Price Check: 2010 E90 M3 6MT
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm assuming RBs, TAs, and most preventative maintenance are not done, only basic maintenance. From the pictures, the car seems in great shape inside and out and CarFax comes back clean with no accidents, though there's a gap between mid-2016 and mid-2018 that I want to ask the dealer about. It comes with a 3 month/3k mile ASC extended warranty with no deductible that the dealer says works nationwide and lets me take it to a BMW dealer or any independent specialist I want, but said the price would be $27,000 without the warranty: ![]() I initially avoided this one because when I asked the dealer if they were open for PPI at my expense, they refused and said that the warranty was offered in its place and they didn't want to let "anyone" check their cars after they had already done the inspections. It was a red flag to me but I also can't find much in the CarFax that proves it to me. Link to CarFax report Thank you everyone for the help! Last edited by KanseiDorifto; 01-12-2021 at 05:56 PM.. |

I personally like the configuration. It's missing the 1200 mile service which is concerning, at least for me.

Manual e90s are hard to find but not impossible. I’d keep looking.

It sounds like $27k is where you got the negotiation to if you don't spend $1600 on a 3 month warranty? (Which sounds horrible?)
It's got most of it's history documented, the PPI is a red flag but not entirely unheard of. Ultimately they don't want you taking the car out of their possession just to uncover gremlins. One option could be to get another extended warranty through someone possibly more trusted, or if you are handy and have the budget just be prepared to fork over that initial cash once you get the car for your own PPI and fix-it fund. (Preventative vs Oh shit). Or at that point if you're going to be spending $30K+ anyways, you might just want to keep looking for a better maintained private seller car. This particular spec is nothing ground-breaking.

Nope, no run in service was logged at 1200 miles.

Thanks for the additional detail and all great points. I was originally swayed because I'm looking for a LCI 6MT E90 in the mid-to-high 20s (perhaps too hopeful?) and most of my lurking points to Bases with around 80k miles, which this one fell into. I was prepared to have my own fix-it fund rather than the warranty anyways but started wondering if the warranty could make up for that on this rare occassion a sub-$30k example popped up. Most of the current E90 market is mostly made up of rare-spec'd, super clean ZCPs out of my budget or somewhat questionable 2008s, so perhaps I got a bit too excited ![]() Glad to know that my own reservations are also justified! Back to more looking. |

Sometimes this service doesn’t get logged to Carfax. I had the same scare but once I ran the records through BMW, I saw that it had been done (plus a way more maintenance that Carfax hadn’t picked up). Maybe worth running the Vin with someone at BMW service (if you have a contact).

Any advice on contacting BMW? I've reached out to the 2 dealers in Southern California that I knew the car was bought and serviced at but no response. Not entirely surprised since I guess they don't have a reason to send the information to me since I'm not buying the car through them. |
