another brake pad question
Spoke to the guy at TireRack and now I'm totally confused.
I have a E90 M3, Competition package. Looking for mixed Street (90%) and Track + autox (10%). looking for good all around pad with good stopping power, low dust and noise. Here are my options: StopTech Street Performance Hawk Performance Street 5.0 Hawk HPS Street Hawk High Performance street / race (recommended) What do you think?? Thank in advance, Dave

I used the Stoptech on the track without too much problem (had some fade at WGI). Depends on the track and your skill level though. Not sure they would hold up too well for Autox. Great street pad though...

Take the HPS off that list. It's dangerous on the track, IMO.
Stoptech is a great pad, but needs to be bedded well to work well. Don't get the Stoptech ceramic, low dust pad, it's similar to the HPS. .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Stoptech street would be great for Auto-X.
They are OK on the track for light use. Bad part is they don't stop very well at all if you overheat them. You'll know when you overheat them because they'll eat away at your wheel's finish. Based on my experience, I throw them away once you overheat them because they turn into bricks.
