who's gone snows in the gta?

hate to ask this question, but for those that run your m3's 365 days/yr - have any of you put your winter shoes on yet? daily highs are still over 7 but in the morning and at night it feels like i'm driving on rocks. was thinking of switching over soon...

... but those summers have virtually no grip at all, as you can tell by the cold & rainy days.

exactly! which is why i'm thinking about doing the switch soon. the problem is, this time of year we are getting temps right around the 7 mark (higher and lower).. and i've been trying to figure from a "tire wear" perspective whether more damage is done to a summer under 7 or to a winter over 7....

If you are not doing extreme long distance driving anywhere (say out of province), I think the winter wear would be minimal.

Better be safe than sorry. I am having mine changed this coming weekend.

^ a summer tire in cold temps will definitely wear faster than a winter tire in warm temps.

I've had my winters on for two weeks. It feels good. As I recall, when the temp goes below 8C or so, those summers are very bad to be on.

still on the michelin ps2. they work pretty good so far. i usually switch around mid to late november. just when the temp begins to remain consistently below 4 degrees C.

Me too. I will likely be switching once the weather is consistently at 7 or below, which means I have to do switch over the weekend.

I recommend DYI - with downtown traffic, chances are the time it will take you to get to the mechanic and back is worth to you more than the tools, and you can use the tools multiple years. I used powerdrill & torque wrench - works almost as well as impact wrench & torque wrench combo, which I got anyway when I started tracking.

put the snows on this wknd..... forgot how ugly the m3 looks with bmw OEM winter tires and rims on them... wheels are so inset it looks like one of those CN pick up trucks that drive on the train tracks.

Changed from the AD08s on RACs to PS2s on 220Ms a few weeks ago because of all the rain we were getting. With temps consistently below 7 (mostly below 3C this weekend because I am near Aurora) I figured why take unnecessary chances? I drive my kids around a lot so better safe than sorry. I figure I waited long enough. Changed over this morning. At least I am on OEM staggered style 219s so the offsets don't look too bad but it does look pretty inset.
