Finally put the ///M3 on a Dyno
Finally got the M3 on a dyno today. Been needing to get a basline reading before I start putting on my engine mods. Unfortunately I couldn't get it into dyno mode. I tried all the button holds and ignition turns to no avail. Oh well, I'm still putting down some good power for 6200rpm. The third run I had let the car cool down a bit so that's why it's lower. How about that torque curve! Mods so far are RE El Diablo rear section and Dinan 3.91 diff. I will update with new dyno runs after each mod just to see what it actually does. Now where's that dyno limiter off switch!

Nice. Do you have SAE numbers too?

Finally got back to the dyno and this time got it to redline. Thanks to all those who told me how to disable the "dyno limiter". Since the last run I've had the vanos completely replaced (both sides), new fuel filter installed and valves adjusted. Only performance upgrades so far are a Dinan 3.91 diff and RE El Diablo rear section.
Next run will have AP headers, Euro200r section 1 and aFe intake installed |

I have a set of Evosport headers and wondered if I can install them with the car on ramps or jack stands vice having it on a lift. Thoughts?
Thanks, Jeff |

Im sure it would be tricky getting them up to the motor on stands but probably not impossible. However i dont have any personal experience at trying so i cant say for sure

That second dyno is more like it! Solid looking graph.
My baseline, stock, dyno run was exactly what your first dyno looked like: 268 WHP/ 238 WTQ. I have yet to dyno since putting the pulleys on and flashing the Evolve "stage 1" tune. Next dyno will be with a 4.10 gear set and bored/ported ITBs.

I was wondering about that, since 3.91 is supposed to 8% more tq to the ground. But you know the 3.91 is a legit piece and you know it feels and is faster, so I'm sure it's not that big of a deal not showing up.
Although... it would be really cool is the dyno could read that "extra" tq being put to the ground!

The problem has to do with the ignition lead to the dyno and the way the gears are input. For some r
eason it doesnt let it read the extra torque made by gearing but you are right, I would love to see the actual wheel torque im getting now. |

Well I just got the car back 3 days ago! It was in the shop for 6 weeks. Now I have a new crank and bearing among other things so I have to break the bearings in for 1200 miles. After that I'll get back on the dyno. And I absolutely love the exhaust. The headers make all the difference!
