Actually, I wouldn't doubt those numbers at all. 470 hp and 0-60 in 3.7s, those numbers are close to those of the Nissan R35 GT-R's performance, which I believe is the current benchmark for high-performance coupes in its price range. Of course there's also Merc and Audi climbing up that same ladder, so I wouldn't be surprised if M division decides to resort to turbos to boost performance. But 2011? I think that might be a little too soon for such a major change. But what do I know haha......

Just came from the dealer. 2011 M3s can be ordered. Looked at the computer display. Orders today are built in week 11 (early March) for mid-April delivery. He claims the only changes are head tail lamp assemblies.
Ordering a vert this week. |

He didn't say anything was changing aside from the items noted above. I didn't think to ask because I never dreamed they'd change the engine at this point.
Didn't ask any pointed questions but while we were chatting I mentioned that MB was releasing the E550 vert in March as a 2011 model. That's when he said that aside from the 6 series, he thought BMW was doing the same. Factory shutdown is Jan, retooled in Feb and building '11s starting in March. Again, just recounting what I heard but I did see that 2011 M3s can be ordered now with my own eyes. |

There still appears to be a fair number of speculation in this thread about the 2011 changes. All of the changes have been all but confirmed in the following discussion:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=328077 (Hint: There are no engine changes.)

Like others have said, 470bhp with 0-60 in 3.7s is very do-able.....however! That is not the case with the E92....If you bumped that up to 470bhp and stripped a considerable amount of weight....lets go mad and say 200kg...that would still not shave nearly 1s of its 0-60 time (keeping in mind, shaving 1s from a 7s car is totally different to a 4.6s car). You would need a very different car...therefore, i doubt any 2011 model will be able to do this. Nonetheless, i hope BMW do have something in the pipelines with thoes figures in mind!

Me? I've never started a thread about the upcoming LCI changes.
