Body shop to restore/reclear CF roof in SoCal

Hey there,

Looking for recommendations for shops that can re-clear / restore this carbon fiber roof. It hasn't started to peel at all, but near the front of the roof the clear coat has started to fade considerably, to the point where it's not glossy at all -- and doesn't reflect light. It has also started to yellow. See pics below. I've reached out to ABS already, and they are insanely busy. I've reached out to signature, and they quoted roughly $2,000. If you guys have any experience with shops that have done this before let me know!

Where in SoCal are you? I had mine re-cleared for a lot less than $1k and it came out looking new, from a shop here in Thousand Oaks.

In Whittier (LA County) — don't mind a drive though if the shop does good work!

lmao NO SHOT they quoted you $2,000 for a restoration, its just sanding and clear coat over the epoxy. at least i know im never going to them.

kings autobody in Huntington Beach will take care of you. they are also mainly a BMW shop.

or JV autobody in stanton CA.

i've been quoted $450 to sand the roof and respray clear at JV a year ago.

I've heard a lot about Kings — will give them a ring. Yeah, I believe it was ~$1,902. They wanted to remove the front, and rear windshields as allegedly the moldings when being removed can crack the windshields, and they wouldn't want to risk that. I've never heard about that before ... but it's whatever. We'll see what Kings quotes me.

the molding is so easy to replace on your own too, I've done it for a few friends already.

If it’s not cracked or peeling it might be worth polishing. I DA polished mine back to a shine though it was never that dull. Just be sure to use a sealant like nu-finish on it.

nu-finish seems like a cheap home depot product but check out some long term stress tests of it. It stands up really well.

This was halfway through, you can see polished vs unpolished.
