I recently bought a used AFE intake and while I can't say if there is any power gain I can say that I absolutely LOVE the sound. It transforms the driving of the car for me because it is tame when you want it to be and ROARS when you want it to. That combined with the exhaust (UUC/Corsa) makes me smile every time I rev the car. The intake (at least at a used price) was well worth it to me.

IND did a dyno on their own of the MS S2 intake, I never asked them to or expected them to do a dyno. Joe implied that the reason the results were never posted was because they are not positive. I spelled that out because I am rather tired of people making, seemingly, factual statements without any actual facts to back them up.

Intakes are not for show, I totally reject that suggestion; which has been made by a few people. Shit, the stock intake looks really nice to me. Quote:

If you want to buy it for HP it really is pointless. But you should buy it; you'll help the economy.

It's not obvious that IND couldn't show gains, even though it is portrayed that way. But it's not the piont as to why I mentioned them in the first place if you follow me. I simply stated that no independent dynos have been posted showing gains. For all we really know it could've made 100 hp for IND. Point is there is still no dyno graph showing it. Follow me now? Whatever their excuse is really doesn't matter. It's still not posted by an independent test.

Yes, but the real question is whether you would see the same gains using just their filter?

I personally don't own any guns so you're safe on that front but I will say that a customer of ours installed the aFe filter a while back, and has now switched to the full Dinan intake. Said he could feel better response with both upgrades, and is much happier with his car.

I definitely felt a difference in the pull above 4k RPMs when I put in the aFe drop-in filter. I'd say that's def worth $100. I upgraded to the Dinan intake and I felt more pull than the filter, but I def would not say it was worth $1000... I'm assuming I mainly paid for the CF. I don't regret spending the money on it because the car sounds and feels better than it did before. Plus I get some "ooohs" and "ahhs" when I pop my hood and the Dinan CF is there. I can definitely understand someone saying my reasons don't justify the cost, but no one is forcing anyone to buy something they don't feel is worth their hard earned money.

At the end of the day these companies are in business to make money, nothing more nothing less. They could give two shits if your car makes 20 hp or 2...it doesnt matter, its a business. Drop a AA filter in and save 700 dollars. Done

Eurotuner tested an AFE intake and exhaust and gained no power from either.
http://www.eurotuner.com/techarticle...ver/index.html The AFE filter is smaller than stock, but maybe the theory is that the oval conical design makes better use of the air box better because the top of the stock filter is pretty much covered by the airbox lid. I put a K&N in there, for whatever that is worth. |
