Yeah more than we had anticipated for a sub 30k car. That linear score is a bit odd too. Some people make it to 100k and others don't. Still no rhyme or reason which is why we post up the good and bad here just to be seen with mileage and year references. For a peace of mind its worth it....from personal experience ha.

Yeah its always better to do it in the winter. The break in for the rod bearings of low RPM is easier to handle when its too cold for traction and the longer warm up times. Less inclination to rip it haha.

I want to thank Robert, John, Brian, Angelo and Phil for all coming in this week and last and taking care of this service with their vehicles. Besides obviously the work in the shop, the results and documentation is utterly invaluable to the community as we try to keep a solid record of the cars getting this work performed. Of course our thanks goes out to the hundreds before these guys as well for trusting their cars with us to perform this and many other services. Silverstoneorspacegray puno_0 JAL0988

Thank you! For anyone wondering if they should book an appointment or “wait another year” like I kept saying.....book now! At 45k miles I didn’t think I’d need to have them done so soon however that was not true. I barely drive my M3 and when I do it’s local driving, never tracked or anything...doesn’t make a difference.. thanks to whole team at ACM including Jeff and Sam! Could be happier!

hahaha! Don't worry Rob you'll get there. And in regards to the break in service anyone who tells you no you don't need to can kick rocks. They dont know for 100% certainty that you don't. Better safe then sorry and still here at acm with a 100% success rate on bearing jobs.

A previous shop's handy work left him with a generic bolt as a drain plug and silicone to stop it from leaking. While a helicoil could bandaid it, since the oil pan was out for bearings it was the perfect time to replace it labor free and never worry about it again. This is why it's import to know your shops!

To add to the data - I am the second owner, regular oil changes (longest interval is 7k), previously not really driven in winter with minimal short journeys, car always treated with mechanical sympathy and warmed up correctly. Previous owner was a more mature gentleman who didn't really push the car at all. Anecdotal but despite their easy life still showing some wear.

Thanks again guys, i'll be the slowest M3 in the tri state for a few months until these are broken in!
