Clutch Mods
I have a 2008 E92 M3 that I've owned since new, and it now has about 30,000 miles on it. I'm just getting around to modifying it. I've noticed that the clutch engagement point has been a little vague / variable since the car was new. This makes it harder to smoothly downshift into a turn, compared to the prior manual cars I drove (Honda/Acura). Any suggestions to improve on the vague / variable clutch engagement point? I already did the spring delete, which helped a little. Would the ultimate clutch pedal or buying an aftermarket clutch help?

Also, i have searched - have found info about clutch stops (which shorten travel) but really not much about fixes for a vague clutch engagement point.
Hope someone has experience with this! |

I am no clutch expert...
Maybe (2009 and up) updated clutch and flywheel can be the solution here But, I drove many 08 m3's before but never had any issues with the clutch engagement. It will be helpful if you can test drive some other m3's first before taking in for an inspection. A clutch stop can adjust the engagement point to a certain extent. (with the right set up) Ultimate clutch pedal is a good product but you should get the vague clutch issues solved first. Personally I find the UCP a waste of $. Remove the helper spring and add a clutch stop for more of a feel. I have an 08 too with 85k miles on it and I'm getting more rattle now then I used to. Also it clunked into gear the other day so I'm getting ready to replace it. You should have tons of clutch life left on yours, pull the spring (08s only have one helper spring, later models I believe have two) and add a stop see if that helps.

Update: I removed the helper spring and will soon install a BMS clutch stop which just arrived. If that doesn't work I think I'm going to try the ultimate clutch pedal (UCP) and leave the spring off. Will let you guys know.

I have the UCP without the spring as well, in the 'race' position, it feels very nice

your problem is, you had honda/acura before haha. Their clutch and shifting feel is no other, so crisp and precise. I have an Integra TypeR too, love the feeling of each shift.
Got my e92 three weeks ago, still getting used to it.
