So far I would say this M car has made me the most paranoid ive been about any vehicle ive ever owned. I have owned several e46 m3s and e39 m5 and trust me those had their problems. But the main problem I am dealing with now is giving me the stress of impeding doom due to this engine tick I am dealing with. Below is a link to the video but here is the run down:
- Changed rod bearings, gave the shop Liqui-Moly 10w-60 for oil - Engine began ticking at operating temp - Got paranoid, looked up on m3post. Several others had similar issue with Liqui-Moly but no one really knows whats going on. Some reccomend to change back to Shell or Castrol - After 200 miles, I changed the oil to Shell BMW 10w-60 - Tick was gone for 40 miles, then came back. - Tick is now present as ever at warm operating temp. - Video below. All help appreciated, this has seriously prevented me from enjoying the car!

It sounds like a lifter. Another possibility could be a manifold leak from a snapped bolt.
