Brey Krause Rear Deck Harness Bar

I recently became aware of a new product for the e46 m3 that I desperately want for my e92. Brey Krause recently started making rear deck harness bars that install behind the rear seats and underneath the rear deck lid. Benefit of this is that you can maintain the use of your rear seats when harnesses are not installed, brilliant!

Here is an example of this product installed on an e46 m3, LINK.

I reached out to BK and while they don't have a similar product for the e92 they are willing to develop one if someone can drop their car off with them for 2-3 weeks. I would totally offer my car up but a bit too far away. Anyone near Bethlehem, PA that might offer their car? Let me know and I will put you in touch with the folks at BK.

This is awesome, I remember seeing this on Obioban's thread highlighting the Cobra Nagaro seats.

I would love to see this application for e9x. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult. Anyone willing to lend their car for development? We could start a rental car fund

I'm not affiliated with this shop nor do I know if this is a safe setup, but you can find them here or on FB as well

Planning on the Nogaro's myself but really want to sit in one before ordering.

Not a safe setup. Impossible that that thin bar can take the force of an accident. There's a reason why the BK bar is triangulated

I hope someone else can send their car there, if not I can always do it in Q2 next year. My Ms are getting put away for winter

Big yikes. I see those kinds of bars and it's just nothing but alarm bells going off in my head. No way does a bar like that do anything in an accident -- it is literally a harness wrap point. There's at least one company making something like that for Corvettes...but it's only like $100 cheaper than the BK.

The BK bars are always triangulated and pass the necessary DOT/SAE/FMVSS requirements, as others have said.

BK even says this on their website which is a dead giveaway about why they don't just run a fucking tube across the B-pillar:
"Strength requirements for harness mounts are considerably greater than those for harness guide bars since they must support the entire load applied to the belts."

You can use the Schroth Quick Fit Pro's with the Cobra Nogaros as they have been specifically tested AFAIK. Obioban is very knowledgable on this topic.

Getting the camlock thru the shoulder harness holes would be a problem.

How do y'all think the BK rear deck bar is triangulated?

Quickfit's aren't advised to be used with fixed back seats.

Could be similar to what they do in the C7 Corvette:

It's not. You can use a small hex wrench to push the latch on the camlock in order to remove the harness. I've done it on my setup.

Something else to note is that from what I understand, regular harnesses are not meant to have a long section of webbing between the seat and the harness mounts. The longer that section is, the more it will stretch. The Quickfits are made to have that much webbing so I'd either go with those, or use harness bar that mounts just behind the front seats. Personally, I'm thinking about switching to the latter just because it's probably a safer setup than the Quickfits.

Just be sure to get some sort of HANS device with the harnesses.

Because they haven't tested and approved. In which case the nogaros have been.

Why would you need to fit the cam lock through the pass through or detach it?

You start from the front of the seat, slide both rear side harnesses through the inner side, then pull it out. Then slide the outer shoulder+lap through that same hole and from the rear, slide it through the outer pass through.

Done.
