Feeler - Track Build Thoughts?
Curious what folks think about a price for this car. Would target $55-$65k depending as is or completing some final projects. Is this realistic?
This is solely a track built car but still driven on the street to/from. Remaining projects would be to strip the wiring to GT4 harness (pending), fully strip interior and paint grey, and install White Lightening Ceramic coated headers. Curious if it would be worth completing those projects and sell at a higher price or sell as is. ‘08 E92 M3, Jet Black, 55k miles. That seems reasonable to me. Given how much these cars have gone up in the past few years, it would cost much much more to replicate the build.

Idk - It’s more an exercise of improving home life and where things are at in this moment.
Might also be a route to funding my contribution for a ‘24 WRL team with some friends. If so something like Lotus Evora GT4 or similar.

Adding the headers won't change the price much is my guess. Sell them off separately to recoup most of your $ back.

They are. I meant it’s a pain in the ass install and thus being included on the car makes it more attractive. But agree it may not impact price.

I agree with others that while it may be more boring without the Harrop those things are worth a good chunk of change and shouldn't be hard to sell in the $7-8k range. Anything that lets you get the cost of the car down just opens up the buyer pool.

DRLane Given the extensive list of mods, on top of the car's value and the Harrop SC, I'd say a fair price is towards the very top of your $55K-$65K range - or even higher. Let me explain: It might be worth adding up the cost of all the mods, then discounting that total some flat percentage to confirm the estimated range of value is reasonable.
Suppose you've got around $60K to 80K in mods and the car itself is worth $27K to $35K (my estimate) then if we applied a 'used mods' discount of say 40% to their retail price then we get (($60K to $80K) X 0.6) + ($27K to $35K) = ($36K to $48K) + ($27K to $35K) => Sales value range of = ($63K to $83K). Discounting the mods by 50% would yield a range of ($57K to $75K) - and I'm just guessing at the total cost of your mods list and ball parking the cost of a used 2008 E92 M3. Anyway, I hope you understand my pricing approach logic, because the total turn-key package might actually be worth a little more than the top of your stated range IMO. PS: Not to mention the cost of the labor paid to have the mods installed.

Going to finish out some really nice upgrades through spring: 1. The headers (I know folks have differing ideas here), but these should make a considerable improvement to all temps. 2. Rebuilt wiring harness 3. Fire suppression 4. Paint the interior so it’s uniform vs the splotch mess 5. Have the Carbon foot well tray 6. Trim down the dash and likely flock 7. Maybe replace all the glass to lexan options 8. Finalize my custom carbon oil cooler ingress ducting (waiting for this from the composite guy) 😂 I’m clearly addicted. Which is why at some point I have to stop.

With the economy trending towards stagnant at best, sell now why you can. Race cars, even ones with your level of prep, are a cash only proposition. Free cash is dwindling right now in the US.

Meh… Sure it’ll lose some buyers that are stretched by a $50k purchase. But honestly the economy isn’t super concerning to me.

I believe he explicitly didn’t incorporate labor into those figures. I agree labor is on you. Just depends if it’s a job that is complex enough as to warrant someone desiring the car more because of said work.

This car is already way beyond dual purpose. It’s a track car you can drive to/from. In which case additional safety is only a plus.

I’m sitting here excited about the flat floor and diffuser. I had spoke with Ryan about that a while back and just landed on a bumper chop drag reduction. Now I’m all hot and bothered!
