Valve cover gaskets and oil filter housing gasket - what should I expect to pay ?

Title explains itself. Both my valve cover gaskets and oil filter housing gaskets are sweating. Looking to have them both done as preventative before the leaks get serious - wondering what I should expect to pay all in/what you guys paid at your indies? I know labour costs depend largely on location however just want to get a general idea. Thanks in advance.

It's not a hard or intensive job, 3 hours you can do it yourself. Save the money for additional parts such as new plugs and fuel breather while your at it. Several write ups. I've even written one.

I wouldn’t attempt it if one doesn’t work on cars. Any number of things can go wrong. Should be about around 500-700$ I’d say. Worth paying a little extra for a more competent shop.

I charged a customer $600 in labor this past weekend. $400 for the valve covers. In the future i'll be charging $400 for the oil filter housing.

Anyone get their valve covered powder coated?
Just wondering how much that runs?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I was quoted $1400 for VCG. I felt that was a little high especially after looking at DIYs. I did VCG on my old 335i and wasn't that bad.

About powder coating the covers, I talked to a specialist that told me powder coating is BS on magnesium, only for looks. He said get the covers glass blasted and paint them with grill paint and the channel where gasket goes.

To make your used valve covers look factory new or even better much more goes into them than just media blasting them and painting them with grill paint. Once you remove the 2 part epoxy you will see how shitty the cast covers truly are. And over time degrade and will need sanding grinding and resurfacing. Powder coating holds up way better than any paint product ever would

Won't high temp paint be better than grill paint?

I recently had my valve covers done and they took my covers, soda blasted the undersides to remove peeling, then clear coated
