$ for rock chip in glass?

Got a very small chip in my windshield this week coming home from work

I know BMWs have "soft" glass and rock chips are sometimes unavoidable, but still...

Average price to repair a rock chip in glass? Is $120 reasonable?

Plan on going the Cindy Rowe/safelite route, unless there is a good reason I shouldn't?...

Why not just have Safelite seal the rock chip and then claim it on insurance?

Had that done a couple of years ago- they were sitting outside of the local car wash. They did it while I waited and I didn't pay any out-of-pocket nor did my insurance go up. Win win!

So how big are we talking here... potential spidering, or...?

Most insurance covers repair of chips with zero deductible. Primarily because an unrepaired chip can lead to a crack/run requiring a new windshield. Call you insurance company first and go from there.

Oh, and $120 is most of the way to a whole new windshield.

Oem Pinkerton is nearly 700$. Maybe you can get aftermarket for $200, but I've never seen one without quality issues.

I had a small crack repaired with glue for under $80. Ins company paid it all.

There are tons of companies here that can just fill a small crack with resin. Ask a reputable tint place for some places. When my friend was about to get his tint, the shop found a small dent, and referred him to this place that filled the dent with resin for $40. 24hour cure time and he was back into the shop to get his glass tinted.

I would pay no more than $70.

Him, yea my only worries with insurance is increased payments since I made a claim... But will give them a call...

No way is $120 close to a new windshield... Thought those things are 800+ for an oem windshield?

My chip is smaller than the size of a pencil is around, very small... But noticeable and right below my line of sight.

I would definitely go the resin route.

Ask your agent or ins company, but I highly doubt this type of claim would increase your premium.

I used to work for one and they actually want you to make these types of claims. Exactly as bavarianfanatic said, t saves them $$$ because a small crack very quickly progresses to full windshield replacement. On our cars that will run 1k or more for OEM. That's why they pay the full amount no deductible.

I can pretty much guarantee you it won't affect your premium brother- mine was done and it definitely wasn't. Good luck and let me know how you do. What insurance if you don't mind me asking?

Just had this done in my other car and depending on the insurance you have they cover it. Insurance does not go up.

Also live in central PA and took it too Cindy Row-Safelite.

Resin works well. I had it done on a small chip that began to spider a couple years ago. You can barely even see it.

When you say resin, who is doing the work? Glass shop like Cindy Rowe or tint shop, or diy?
