Oh. The 10K was spread across all three classes RC1, RC2, RC3 = GT1, GT2, GT3. The 61st Rose Cup is part of the Portland Rose Festival. Tom in the R8 won 1K for pole position and another 4K for the overall win. I think my smaller check is in the mail 😉

Probably already been debated several times in this thread, but, any concrete data on oil degradation for track cars? My street intervals were 5k. Im thinking 3k? My shop said some people do it every two days.

Every two days seems like overkill, but I'm sure you'll find 100 opinions after you ask 100 people. |

Regular synthetic oil or "race oil" which shouldn't be kept long?

I only do a couple track days a year. I do 5k intervals plus a fresh change before and after a track day. The oil is critical, and cheap compared to other parts. I'm probably overkill but makes me feel good.

With fcp's warranty I've upped the frequency of oil changes. It's just cheap insurance at the price point.

Not going to get away from eating up tires and pads, but now I'm curious. If changing oil before and after a track makes one feel good, why stop at engine oil? Brake, diff, tranny, ps, and coolant might as well get swapped too, right? Regarding air in the tires: that should be changed on this interval as well. |

Fwiw I'm on that FCP lifetime sponsorship deal so if I wanted to be wasteful I could dump all fluids before and after a track day at a very small cost, but instead I keep it to annual changes for everything but engine oil, which is swapped every 3-4 weekends (8 days) and brake fluid which gets a short bleed session before each weekend.

Correct. I want brand new clean oil in my engine when I am constantly running at 5000-8600 rpm and then I want to get rid of that oil after that kind of use.
I change rotors, brake fluid, check PS fluid and change it if it doesn't look fresh. I would guess I change pads and tires earlier than most. I'm also the kind of guy that checks torque on all the suspension components before and after as part of my prep. If I had an overheating event with the diff or trans on my track day, I would likely change the fluid. I do it partly because I enjoy the time, partly because I study risk professionally and so I can't help it, partly because I can afford it and so I'm not trying to find ways to make track days cheaper, partly because I've never had a mechanical failure and have seen lots of others have them, partly because I raced motorcycles where I'd argue machine prep is about 100X more critical. That's just what I do. You do you. Don't be mad about it; I'm not!

I did about 8-10 000km per year, which is mostly commute to the track, and track days, with only one oil change each year. Analysed every oil change with black stone, and it came out fine and they suggested longer intervals every time. Modern oils can keep properties for a long time.
