You can lower the rear sub-frame to get it to fit comfortably without much struggle, but this would be more difficult if doing it at home on jack stands.
Yea, I was all out of jacks, hydraulic jacks, and ideas. I was about to put it back together and drive to you. lol

Any idea what the long term durability is of this?? My concern is I feel like I'd have to inspect the thing every so often to make sure its holding up.

Hi folks, since the CF shaft is wider than OE one do we need to bend the heat shield to avoid contact?

Yes you will need to carefully check that the heat shield does not touch the drive shaft. Can't bend it too much either as the exhaust is right below it.

Mine is intact still as well. As for install on my 6MT, the trick for me was to let the transmission drop/til down and it wen in without any hassle. It was also easy for me because I was doing the CAE install too so I had all kinds of room under there!

Same here. No issues. Still not sure how you guys managed the install without dropping the diff. I tried for longer than I care to admit, but then finally gave up and just went and bought a table stand. Was a breeze after that.

well, i was putting the car back together to give up. lol i was all out of jackstands/jacks, so i didn't have anything available to drop the diff by myself. once i jacked the dct back up to put the dct mount on, i thought i would try again. i may have jacked it up a smidge higher, but it somehow worked. i probably shaved about half a millimeter of material off while muscling it in. i was careful to only press on the metal rear part of the driveshaft so i didn't put any weird pressure or stress on the actual driveshaft or joints.

This is why I gave up. I have broken sooooooooo many things that I just couldn't bare the thought of breaking that driveshaft.

Updates:

I got the 6MT version driveshaft today and was able to put it in fairly painless, no dropping diff, jacking up trans etc., just had to massage the pumpkin a bit and was able to squeeze it in.

I have to run so can't complete everything else until later tonight, but I'm posting some pics so that some of the experts here can help QA and please let me know if you see something wrong. Please note, I haven't torqued any of the bolts yet. They are just finger tight.

Some fully torque'd diff end pics. Bolts tighten to 40nm + 45ish degree + blue thread locker. All of the 6 bolts are ribbed.

Not sure if the joint is stretched too much, @Mfactory?

The flex joint end of the shaft is a bit bulky and doesn't leave enough space to fit a socket to the bolt head so I'll have to pick up a 18mm wrench (for some reason I don't have or can't find...) tomorrow and just gonna do TAF torque.

Oh by the way, for some reason the weight I provided before is quite off:

OEM shaft - 10.3 kg
Mfactory shaft: 5.5 kg

The joint is designed to flex/compress, so should be ok. How far along is it in it's movement?

Maybe try adjusting the rear diff mounts slightly to compress it in a little if you find it too extended (if that makes sense?)

I didn't measure how far it was extended from its most compressed point. I was hoping you might have some tolerance data.
I'm probably just being paranoid so I'll leave it as is for now.

The CV joint is designed to travel 30mm in/out

The MT fitment is 21mm shorter than the DCT fitment. When you tried to install the DCT previously, at full compression (15mm), you were still around 6mm shy of it fitting easily.

So best guess on this one, factoring in mount positions etc, you prob still have around 10mm either way of movement, which should be ok
