I actually contemplated on e63 as well. Love the massive horsepower and comfort combination. In the end, the exterior of the new c-class won me over. No doubts though that these v-8 bi turbo e63 will destroy most cars we see out in the road including my new ride.

The newer 4.0L twin turbo V8 is very tuneable like the older 5.5L twin turbo. But traction becomes a problem with the big torque you get from turbos and that is where the AWD helps -- you can put the power down. The older E63 does not look as good, but the new one with the 4.0L is out of my price range.

Congrats on the new ride! I owned a older ( 2010 ) c63 i miss that car... mostly the sound and torque the AMG bone stock (v8) exhaust note is like no other.
The new c63 interiors are definitely next level... just awesome. Mercedes nailed the redesigned c63 a completely different car over the 08-14 models ...bmw not so much.

That said... the exterior design of the m3 e92 is what brought me to it.

Have you considered the W212 e63? The achievable tunes on these are crazy for relatively low cost.
You are correct about traction on the non AWD AMGs though.

Thanks! I agree that the e92 exterior design is timeless. It's the perfect balance of elegance and aggression.

OP, great pick up. Is that Diamond White? Also, good choice on the carbon ceramics! I love the new W205 C63S models. I think Mercedes nailed it vs the F8X M3/M4.

I made a similar change going from an E60 M5 to a C63 Black Series. I was really leaning towards the W205, but I wanted something a bit "more". I can say this though, I have no intentions of going back to BMW. That's coming from a multiple generation BMW client.

That is Diamond White! I too was debating between the w204 BS and the new w205 AMG 63s as they run about the same in price. I searched for five months but couldn't find a BS that fits my criteria (silver or red color, 4 seats option, carbon trims, & AMG performance package) so I went with the new c63s. Funny thing is a week after I got my car, two more w204 BS went on the market for sale that were closer to what I was looking for. I'm happy with my choice though as the interior tech and comfort were high desires on this vehicle. It perfectly fills the need for a everyday driver that can be luxurious and practical, yet still plenty fast and feel special. My f-type can now go to weekend-only status again.
Even though my new car is pretty hot, it'll look pedestrian next to your BS!

great mini review, and objectivity between the two cars. I too was in a FI car, with much more power and grunt, but there's something about the NA V8s that make the E92 a bit more special when pressed. It will never be the fastest car, but smiles per mile are very high with the E92 V8s

Thank you! It is a C63 AMG Black Series. One of the vehicles the OP was considering during his search. I attached a link below that explains the car more in detail.

Yes, that is the 5.5L twin turbo AWD model that I am considering -- around 2014. For about $3k you can get about 600 rwhp. But I might get a 997.2tt or 991.1tt instead. Depends on the finances in the next year.

wow, sad to see a long time member leave for a competitor brand. I'm impressed by AMG's game lately.

btw, is that a center lock wheel?

I had a 2014 E63 S model and that was the best car I have owned. I know you said you don't track but that car can hang with anything out there. I beat c7 vette's, Shelby's, Porsche's, Etc. car is also very comfortable and is great for long trips. You can probably buy them cheap now. The downside is maintenance and repair. It can be ridiculous. Had 2 air shocks go out and believe the part alone is $1,400. Mine was under warranty. If you get one, buy a warranty.

Good luck.

I don't track my car so the loss of handling compared to the 700 lb lighter E90M3 may not matter. You can find nice examples for $60k plus or minus $10k.

Can't believe it's been 8 yrs already since I bought my first e92. I learned so much about cars from this forum and will be here indefinitely, ///m cars or not. Maybe even a third e92 again some times to add to the group? If only there's enough garage space.
And yes, that's a center lock wheel.

That's a really nice looking car!!! I own a cls63 and I drive the M every day... when I get behind the wheel of the cls I smile every time of the sound coming out the back. I love the M but the neck snapping torque and sound of the exhaust of the AMG gets me smiling every time!!! both the M and AMG are keepers will not sell either of them... The next car, who knows what it will be... but it will be difficult to top either of them. Unless I win the lotto and can afford a supercar...

Thanks. The car feels very muscular with tight suspension and crackling exhaust.
