Why does your car's finish look so dull? Did you do some post editing on the photos?

I was driving on I-8 and notice there was not a soul at the sand dunes (I think the 109F had something to do with that) and just decided to stop and take a couple of pictures and a stretch my legs. My vehicle really wasn't ready for any pictures, as you can see all the bugs. The dullness i bevieve has to do with the suns postion and no shade to block direct sunlight.
